It is not to be boxed up and shelved in the garage with the Halloween decor until next June when you dust off the cobwebs to once again wave your rainbow flag. Live every month like it’s Pride Month. Celebrate your fabulousness, as well as the light of others in our diverse community throughout the year. Find opportunities to educate others, let them see your shine. Make space for all the folx in our community (people of color and beauties living beyond the binary)to be seen and heard. Connect with allies so they know how to support us in meaningful ways. Live out loud so LGBTQ+ youth have role models protecting and guiding them. Pride that only comes once a year doesn’t do the heavy lifting of changing hearts and minds, it sells t-shirts and makes for a great @instagram pic, but it’s only a faded memory in a few weeks. The more meaningful impact of Pride is accomplished by showing up consistently in people’s lives, radically authentic and compassionate. Live your Pride, for there are too many folx who lack the safety to enjoy such a gift.
