Returning to the Center Square’s Convention Center, Yen Sid’s Summer Music Festival is a five day live music event opening on July 6th and closing on July 10th. Tickets bought at the door are 20 credits each and only good for that day. Tickets for all five days cost 80 credits and can be bought online. With 125 artists and bands from all over the cosmos performing over the duration of the festival, there’s sure to be something for everyone!

9/8 - Filled with the announcements of who made it and who didn’t, the carrying of the eternal flame and a general feeling of rivalry and excitement, this event is a beautiful moment before the chaos that becomes of the Olympics. Yen Sid himself will be giving a speech on life here on the asteroid.Â
 ─ THE GAMES
9/9 through 9/29 - The games will be split into rounds, each round getting more aggressive than the last. The first week will consist of the first round. The second week, the second. And the third and final round will happen during the third week, whittling down the athletes until only the victors and their final opponents are left. If your characters are participating in these events, they will be told each week if the character has made it through to the next round.

9/30 - When the final victors and their runner ups will be announced. Promises to be a beautiful ceremony. Gold, Silver and Platinum medals will be awarded, and to continue the tradition, Quartz medals will be given to those who make it to fourth and fifth place.
After spending a little over a week (or at least, what he assumed to be a week) in Valmoor, Dr. Iota Vasiliev finally stumbled across a portal that took him from a medieval reality of magic and dumped him New York City circa 1925 - the gold plated era of flappers and jazz, speakeasies and mafias. Vasiliev found himself a stranger in a foreign world of people with more money than they knew what to do with and mobsters rapidly gaining power by using the prohibition to their advantage.

Welcome to the week two of the AU event! So sorry for the delay, things have been very hectic on our end lately. For this event, your character is a resident of New York City during the romanticized decade known as the roaring twenties. You’re free to continue threads from or post closed starters (if you were unable to before) for the mythos event into this week, though we ask that the only open starters you post during the mafia au are ones related to this specific week. Also, reminder to mind the triggers of other people while exploring the reaches of the event! Most importantly, have fun!
So this AU is centered around the mafias of the 1920s, but not every character has to be involved in a mafia. Here’s a list of different occupations your character can have in this reality:
Mafia Members
The mafias in this AU are set up like a classic Italian mafia.Â
Boss: The head of the mafia. Receives a cut of every operation taken on by members of the group. The head of the mafia. Receives a cut of every operation taken on by every member of the mafia.Â
Underboss: Second in command of the mafia. Often runs day-to-day responsibilities or oversees its most lucrative rackets. Usually gets a percentage of the family's income from the boss's cut. First in line to become acting boss if the boss is imprisoned, and is also frequently seen as a logical successor.Â
Consigliere: An adviser to the mafia and sometimes seen as the boss's "right-hand man". Used as a mediator of disputes and often acts as a representative or aide for the mafia in meetings with other mafias, rival criminal organizations, and important business associates. A boss will often appoint a trusted close friend or personal adviser as their official consigliere.Â
Capo: A caporegime (capo) is in charge of a group of soldiers who report directly to them. Each crew usually contains 10–20 soldiers and many more associates. A capo is appointed by the boss and reports to them or the underboss. A captain gives a percentage of their (and their underlings') earnings to the boss and is also responsible for any tasks assigned, including murder.Â
Soldiers: A lower ranking member of the mafia. Soldiers are the main workers of the mafia, usually committing crimes like assault, murder, extortion, intimidation, etc. In return, they are given profitable rackets to run by their superiors and have full access to the mafia’s connections and power.Â
Associates: Not a member of the mafia, but works for one nonetheless. Associates can include a wide range of people who work for the family. They can have a wide range of duties from virtually carrying out the same duties as a soldier to being a simple errand boy. This is where prospective mobsters start out to prove their worth. Once a crime family is accepting new members, the best associates are evaluated and picked to become soldiers. An associate can also be a criminal who serves as a go-between or sometimes deals in drugs to keep police attention off the actual members, or they can be people the mafia does business with (restaurant owners, etc.) In other cases, an associate might be a corrupt lawyer or businessman.
Police
Detectives: Cops from specific units in the local police departments. Can be from any borough, and can be from any department, though they would likely be from narcotics, organised crime, murder or inter-city crime. While many cops do honest work, crooked cops exist.Â
Jazz Club Employees
Owner: Owners of Jazz Clubs are rarely so kind as they sound, collecting the pay from all of the bartenders and dancers before dealing out the meager paychecks that they have decided befit their workers. Drug dealers and bootleggers are common on Jazz Club grounds, though the owners tend to turn the other cheek for the extra patrons that they attract.
Bartenders:Â The secret keepers of the world, bartenders tend to trade in information as well as, silently and discreetly among their regular drinks, alcohol. While most bartenders tend to keep their information to themself, some sell it to mafia personnel or to their boss as a supplement to their income. This doesn't always come without consequences.Â
Dancers:Â The lowest paid workers of the Jazz Clubs, dancers are known for keeping secrets and for being a good source of information. Whether or not a dancer is also a sex worker is dependent upon the Club, though it's more common than the police in the area would like to believe.Â
Other
Dealers:Â Frequenters of Jazz Clubs, most dealers of the age trade in Opiates, and are bankrolled by mafia groups or by the Jazz Clubs themselves. Often, a dealer is indebted to a mafia group that began their practice, but there are dealers who began independently.Â
Bootleggers:Â During the 1920s, the Prohibition Act was still in full swing, and those who regularly supplied alcohol via producing it or illegally procuring it were known as bootleggers. They are closely associated with the mafia, as most illegal substances were, but they are mostly separate entities from that of the mafia itself.Â
Double Agents:Â Whether their other allegiance is to the police or to another mafia, double agents are tied to at least one mafia, and in a more precarious situation besides. This often includes the maintenance of two completely separate identities, to the credit or detriment of the double agent.Â
Welcome to the first alternate dimension Dr. Iota Vasiliev was pulled into: the kingdom of Valmoor! In this universe, humans coexist with the mythical creatures of folklore and fairytales. The residents of Valmoor share a striking resemblance with the citizens of the YSWPO, but with a twist. They are all supernatural/mythological creatures! They have backstories and relationships contrasting from their human counterparts in our reality, which is sure to make for some pretty unique interactions!

For this event, you must choose on of the following creatures for your characters to turn into. You can have as many of the same species as you’d like, though we ask that you try to diversify your selections so we don’t end up with 20 of one species and none of another. Please read under the cut to learn about the different mythical creatures available to choose from in Valmoor.
Vampires (2 types)
Moroi: These vampires are born rather than created, and thus age and eventually die. They usually live to be around 130 years. Contradictory to many myths about vampires, touching silver has no harmful effect on them and sunlight only weakens them. The Moroi are ruled by an aristocracy of 15 council members and headed by a queen. Only two Moroi parents can have a Moroi child. If a Moroi and a human have a child, it is born as a hybrid called a Dhampir. These hybrids almost entirely human except for their above-average senses and physical abilities. Moroi have enhanced speed, strength, eyesight, and smell. In terms of looks, Moroi look human for the most part. They tend to be paler than than their Dhampir cousins because of their nocturnal lifestyle, along with being a few inches taller than average.
Strigoi: Your classic horror story type vampire. They are undead and immortal - forever stuck at the age they were turned. Silver burns Strigoi and exposure to sunlight can kill them. Strigoi are created when a Moroi drains someone entirely of their blood (resulting in death), or when a creature of a different species dies with a sufficient amount of Strigoi blood in their body. When turned, Strigoi lose most of their humanity/morals and become motivated solely by desire. Other species that are turned into Strigoi lose any magic they had. Strigoi have super speed, strength, smell, and night vision. In terms of looks, Strigoi are characterized by their red ringed irises and generally pale/almost sickly looking skin.
Werewolves
Werewolves usually don’t look any different form humans. Their appearance does shift to become a little more animalistic when they’re feeling strong emotions; whether those be lust, anger, or sadness. When they do this kind of partial shift, their eyes will become more wolf like, their nails grow sharper, and their fangs start to make an appearance. In their wolf form they look like a normal wolf – albeit larger. Abilities include an enhanced sense of smell, hearing, speedy, and strength. Werewolves can shift at will, but are forced to every full moon. During full moon transformations, werewolves lose their humanity and will not remember anything they do that night the morning after. Young werewolves go through a lot of partial shifting as they mature and go through puberty, but a full transformation doesn’t typically occur until they’re sixteen. Werewolves are typically a species that are born rather than created, but there are cases of humans forcibly turned into werewolves when severely scratched during a full moon. These kinds of werewolves struggle with their controlling their abilities and often go through a full transformation when strong emotions like anger are provoked.Â
Extra: There is a longstanding rivalry between the werewolves and Moroi vampires. This hatred has come about because of how easy it is for them to kill each other. If deep enough, a bite from a Moroi can kill a werewolf, and vise-versa. Incidents of one species biting the other out of spite brought about war long ago, but a treaty was reached when the dragons and mages interviewed.
Fae (2 types)
Seelie: One of the most recognizable mythical beings from fairytales, in Valmoor, fae are divided into two races: Seelie and Unseelie. Seelie have brightly colored eyes/wings and a slight shimmer to their skin. Their abilities include communication with animals, an advanced ability to make healing salves, flight, growing/manipulation of plants, ecological empathy, light-bending, and the ability to change their size from that of a human to only six inches tall. All fae have wings similar to that of a moth, butterfly, or dragonfly, though there are some with wings that resemble other winged insects. They have pointed ears and unusually colored eyes. There is a glimmer to both Seelie and Unseelie’s wings. Among most other species (elves especially) Seelie are the favored kind of fae. In terms of personality, Seelie are typically the more helpful, good natured race of fae.
Unseelie: One of the most recognizable mythical beings from fairytales, in Valmoor, fae are divided into two races: Unseelie and Seelie. Unseelie have darkly colored eyes/wings and a grayish tint to their skin. Their abilities include communication with animals, a natural affinity for making poisons, flight, rotting/manipulation of plants, and the ability to change their size from that of a human to only six inches tall. Unlike Seelie, Unseelie are capable of performing spells and charms, though only of the dark variety and with lots of difficult practice. All fae have wings similar to that of a moth, butterfly, or dragonfly, though there are some with wings that resemble other winged insects. They have pointed ears and unusually colored eyes. There is a glimmer to both Seelie and Unseelie’s wings. Among most other species (elves especially) Seelie are the favored kind of fae - a fact that has left most Unseelie feeling bitter and antagonistic towards Seelie. In terms of personality, Unseelie are typically the more reclusive, cunning race of fae.
Elves
Elves look very similar to Seelie fae, though they lack any wings. Unlike the fae, they also cannot change size and are actually rather tall. They have striking features, pointed ears, and sharp facial structures. An elf’s enhanced senses are very useful when they are hunting or fighting. Their ecological empathy and communication with animals can also come in very handy in a variety of situations. Elves hold themselves to high standards and don’t like getting involved in other species’ problems. They were content to sit back and watch the Moroi and werewolves destroy themselves during the 100 year war between the two species - which more than likely would have happened if the dragons and mages hadn’t intervened. Elves have a close relationship with the Seelie and a hatred of gargoyles that no one can remember the reasoning behind.
Merpeople
Merpeople are known for being beautiful both in and out of the water. In the water, they have fish - of any kind, including shark, dolphin, or even squid/octopus - lower halves as well as webbed hands. Gills are also high up on their necks near their ears. When out of the water, they look very human aside from the scales or strange coloring often found on their legs and hips. While the webbing on their hands becomes smaller while on land, it still exists. Merpeople need to spend about an hour in water every day since staying out of the water for longer than 72 hours can be detrimental to their health. Their abilities include breathing underwater via their gills, shifting between a tail and legs, enhanced speed when swimming, siren’s song (hypnotic singing), and the power to create storms as they get older.
Witches
Commonly mistaken with mages, witches are not born with magic, so they have to rely on items like charms and potions in order to practice their craft. Many spells witches perform require them to place rune markings on their bodies - which is what physically differs them from humans. Only humans can become witches, seeing as how most other species already have magic flowing through their veins or are biologically incapable of practicing magic. Witches either live in large covens or out on their own.
Familiars
Familiars are a witch’s closest companion. They are animals with the ability to shift into a human form that share a deep emotional/magical connection with a single witch. In terms of abilities, familiars can sense when their witch is in trouble, teleport to their companion no matter where they are, perform minor defensive spells, and calm their witch’s emotions. When in human form familiars still retain an animalistic element (chameleon skin, cat ears, etc).
Mages
Commonly mistaken with witches, mages are born with magic rather than having to rely on items like charms and potions to practice. Typically, a mage only has one specific ability (firebending, communication with animals, invisibility, etc), but there have been a few cases of mages with two affinities. Mages are the byproduct of two parents of the same species or a human with a member of another species. Vampires are the only species whose procreation with a human can not result in a Mage, seeing as how all Moroi+human children are Dhampirs. The only physical difference between a mage and human are their bright, almost glowing eyes. Mages can practice other types of magic by using magic items like a witch, but their affinity will always be their strongest ability.Â
Dragons
One of the oldest species in this reality, dragons see themselves as the overseers of peace in Valmoor. Dragons can take on a human form, though it’s rather easy to tell what their true form is. Scales that can be found all over their bodies and a pair of suspiciously reptilian eyes give them away instantly. Some even have a small pair of horns. More often than not they also tend to have a larger/more muscular build than other creatures. In their dragon form, they come in a variety of colors and builds, but most can be separated into two distinct races. One race looks like that of the dragons of European stories, while the other is very similar to the dragons of East Asian legend. The European-esque dragons breathe fire, have wings, and are a tad greedy. The Asian-esque dragons are slimmer, can swim underwater rather than breathe fire, and can fly using magic rather than a pair of wings.
Shapeshifters
One of the trickiest species in Valmoor, shapeshifters are one of the only neutral parties in the kingdom. They’re neither inherently good nor bad - indifferent to the problems of other species and without any alliances. Every shapeshifter has their original form that they were born with and transform back to when asleep, and all their different looks are vaguely similar to that form. There are limits to what a shapeshifter can transform into, but they keep that secret close to the chest. Shapeshifters are the hardest creatures to track or get ahold of because they can change into the appearance of someone else at any given moment. Because of that, many of them turn to a life of crime because of how much they can get away with. Shapeshifters also have an enhanced endurance and night vision. Accidental shifting can sometimes occur when their emotions are heightened and they lose mental clarity. There have even been cases of mental blocks that prevents a shapeshifter from shifting altogether.Â
Incubi/Succubi
A subspecies of demon, Incubi (male/gender neutral) and Succubi (female) are the most alluring creatures of darkness you’ll find in all of Valmoor. They have a bad reputation among every species except for Strigoi, and for good reason. This nocturnal species feeds by draining the lifeforce of other living beings via sex. Powers of this species include super strength/speed, emotional manipulation, and the ability to enter dreams via the mindscape. Inucbi/Succubi also have the ability to alter their appearance to better match their prey’s ideal person; not to be confused with shapeshifters, who are the only creatures that can transform into the appearance of another species, animal, or gender. The only way to distinguish an incubi/succubi from a human (aside from their extreme beauty) are the black horns on their heads. When feeding an incubi/succubi’s eyes also turn entirely black, but by then it’s usually too late to escape. Partnerships between incubi/succubi and Strigoi vampires is fairly common. The demons lure in prey, get what they want from them, and then leave the weakened body for their Strigoi partner to feed off of. It’s a mutually beneficial partnership not to mention Strigoi are the one of the only species that incubi/succubi can engage in sex with without the fear of killing their partner (since there is no lifeforce to drain). All incubi/succubi eventually die, but depending on how much lifeforce they drain, they can live for a very, very long time.
Gargoyles
The only nocturnal creatures of Valmoor that aren’t inherently harmful to humans. Gargoyles become stone during the day, but come to life as soon as the sun slips below the horizon. Even when they aren’t literal stone, they still retain a stoney coloration/feeling to their skin. Another attribute that differentiates them from humans are their giant bat wings. Their wings are too large to retract like a fae’s more delicate wings, but they have to be huge in order to carry such a heavy creature off the ground. Because of their solid stone-like skin that protects them from attacks, gargoyles are too heavy to swim. Their abilities include super strength, speed (when flying), and endurance. Gargoyles are the only species other than Strigoi that are immortal. They are sculpted by stonemasons and then brought to life by witches or mages, never aging and only dying if something breaks their body apart.
Dwarves
Dwarves are (debatably) the most dependable, loyal, and stubborn species in Valmoor. They are short, generally stout creatures that are make up for their size with their super strength, great memory, and enhanced endurance )that fantastic memory is probably why keep grudges for so long). Most typically live in mountainous areas in large clans, but many choose to live in cities instead to make trading easier. Dwarves’ skill at working with metals and irons and mining for ore is famously unmatched by any other species. Young dwarves are raised to always be combat ready and are given increasing doses of different poison in order to build up an immunity by the time they’ve reached adulthood. Dwarves are born resistant to extreme temperatures, which is very helpful when you live in frigid mountains and spend most of your days underground working hard in hot caverns.
Spirits
Spirits - the great mystery of Valmoor. They are the souls of the deceased that linger if they had unfinished business while still alive, or simply refuse to move on to the next life. None of them can see the ‘other side’ and answer questions about life after death, or at least, if they can, they don’t/can’t say so. They don’t retain any memories from their previous life - only an innate need to find/do something - but over time they can regain them. Depending on how long a spirit has been around for and how much energy they’ve absorbed from their environment, a spirit can range from being completely undetectable (newer spirits typically can’t be seen/heard for a little while) to being fully corporeal. Most wander around as translucent figures that are often mistaken as blurry vision out of the corner of your eye. A spirit’s abilities gradually increase from being able to speak to the living, to interacting with solid objects, to conjuring up a physical form of their own (translucency can fluctuate) to possession of a living soul. Only spirits that have been around for a very long time are capable of possession, and even then it still very difficult.
The multiverse theory has been a heavily debated subject for the past millennium, but over the past two centuries scientists have begun researching the multiverse as a very real concept. Some have tried to gain access to other dimensions through their subconscious, while others have attempted to build machines that create portals to the vast expanse of universes. As of the year 3527, there has been no officially recorded travels to other dimensions. All attempts have supposedly ended in failure. Until now.
Dr. Iota Vasiliev of the planet Harmony - working alongside a mysterious figure who claims to have experience in this area of science - put the finishing touches on an interdimensional portal earlier this month and ran it through its first trial on the fourteenth of August at fifteen hundred hours. The trial was a success in the sense that the machine powered up and generated a portal, but it quickly fell out of Vasiliev’s control. He was pulled into the worm hole and has not emerged since. While his research partner impatiently waits to see if he will reemerge, the doctor has fallen through several different dimensions. Some are situated far in the past, while others seem to only have existed in fairytales.Â
Welcome to the AU Weeks of August!! With summer ending, school starting up again, and the Olympics rapidly approaching, we thought you all could use something fun that diverts from the RP canon. Starting today, for the next three weeks all current threads will be put on pause as we follow Dr. Iota Vasiliev during his travels through three different dimensions. The good doctor will only play a supporting function in this event though, seeing as how all of your characters are the starring roles!
There will be three unique realities in total, and we hope everyone enjoys them! Please put all current threads on hold until the event ends on September 3rd. Any/all threads created for the event can continue past the 3rd. Text convos are also banned during this time, seeing as how modern phones do not exist in any of the realities. Pet Pride! This event will be held in the southern plaza, near the entrance to the puppy park. It is open to all, no tickets are required and please remember ─ if you have pets, bring them! Cats, dogs, lizards, as long as you can carry them or put them on a leash, then please!!! Bring them!!!

Get ready to get nasty and then blasted with an array of all kinds of colors from our Pride Canons!! This is sure to be a blast, and is a favorite of all who attended.
If you want to exercise in a more fun, less intense way, make sure that you join the rest of the asteroid in Street Dancing! This will be held in the Market Square on the East Side!! Be there, in the square, and dance like you just don’t care!!

GRAB YOUR FEATHER BOAS YA GAYS, GET YOUR BOOTIES DOWN TO THE FRONT LINE AND LIVE!! It is on THIS DAY that the Pride Parade will be marching it’s way down town, absolutely killing it! Roads will be closed, the parade route is almost 10 MILES so be there or be square folks because this is what pride is for!! The Festival will be going on until the fireworks at 9 p.m. that night!!
