Felix, what's your favourite album ? can be a top 5 also :)
Oh I love this question 😊
Top picks right now:
All Hope Is Gone — Slipknot — controlled chaos that sounds like the world ending... politely
Hybrid Theory — Linkin Park — emotional damage with excellent production
The Fat of the Land — The Prodigy — for when I need to remember I also enjoy being alive in a flashing-light sort of way
Dookie — Green Day — messy, loud, fun, but actually full of feelings
Mutter — Rammstein — dramatic, theatrical, emotionally catastrophic (affectionate)
Bonus album energy (because I have free will):
Mars to Sirius— Gojira — feels like the Earth itself decided to scream in rhythm and I respect that immensely.
And yes before anyone says anything… I do also enjoy a rave set when the mood hits. Balance is important. Light and noise therapy, basically.
If I had to summarise my taste:
I like music that sounds like it could either fix me or legally detain me. ☺️
Oh look shiny new Tumblr dedicated to Wax & Wane shenanigans!
About Us: Wax & Wane - London
We are one of the last heartbeats of real music in a world gone algorithm-soft.
We deal in vinyl. The good kind.
Our shelves are stacked with the classics:
Nirvana, Sex Pistols, The Clash, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, The Smiths, Joy Division, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Bring Me the Horizon… to name but a few.
For legal, financial and management level "just do it" reasons, we also stock, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande... (Do I really have to list all of them? No? Brilliant. Moving on.)
If it's loud, honest, a little bit broken and sounds better with a needle on it, we've probably got it.
If you come in here looking for something we don't have (looking at you, humanoid who wanted Cliff Richard), you will be judged. Disclaimer: Silently is not guaranteed. Loudness of judgement depends on coffee intake, hunger levels, and whether Felix is physically present to stop me. ~ J
Run by two idiots with opinions and the shops Wi-Fi password: Jisung and Felix. Jisung mostly, because Felix thinks this is a bad idea.
For the purposes of The Boss™ who may find this page: views, takes and occasional slander are entirely our own (Jisung's)
We are not responsible for your hurt feelings or your sudden urge to buy a turntable.
Come dig in the crates. ~F
Mind the dust. ~J
do u guys have Drake or something too?
Unfortunately, I'm obligated to say yes. We also have regret. They are next to each other in the section titled "Emotional Labour" ~J

So Jisung & Felix…
What’s a girl gotta do to get some free wax?
NO >:(
…Okay. Let me rephrase before Felix clocks me.
We don’t do free wax because of the usual corporate bullshit misery.
I earn minimum wage. You get what you pay for.
BUT.
If that man from your gif walked in right now? I would consider making some deeply questionable business decisions. I’m talking “suddenly we have a limited-time promotion I just invented on the spot” level of professionalism.
He looks like a top 10 listener though...
Oh gods. New fear unlocked.
Handsome guy… and bad music taste. I hate this.
So to answer your question properly: no one can "get free wax". But some people can absolutely destabilise the pricing structure if they look at me for longer than three seconds.
Anyway.
Next customer.
~J
okay but what about the underground bands? you heard of safety scars? you probably don't know them, they're very small
—tokkimoon
Are you trying to provoke me?
Of course I know Safety Scars!! Luna, when I see you on Discord, you and I are going to have words.
Wax & Wane support a range of upcoming artists and SoundCloud only projects. We are not a gatekeeping operation.
In a couple of months, the shop is hosting a special Howl Night at the Lunar Lounge - headlined by Safety Scars and featuring groups such as The Concrete Youth, Rationed Violets & Neon Graveyard. Date and ticket details to follow.
Popularity of the artist doesn't matter to us. Quality does.
If it’s loud, proud, and a little bit broken (like us), then we support it.
When any of these artists are able to secure deals to produce physical releases, we will be stocking them. Until then, we will simply continue being correct on the internet.
~J Felix is kind of proud of me for promoting the shop for a change. I got a cookie. He called it "positive reinforcement".
wow look at you two (one?) thinking you're better than everyone else just because you've thrown out your CD player to buy vinyls and be cool — well, you're not, you're cringe thinking vinyls are better somehow, they break easily and take up the whole fucking shelf, like wine bottles which people are exactly as up in their ass about. the only real way to keep music nowadays is as recorded memos in a group chat with people you'll never know the real name of, that's how niche the music is — the amount of music I store on flash drives you get at underground concerts and can never be sure won't fuck up your hard drive is insane, and you with your damn fucking wine-tasting vinyl listens are so pretentious and cringe fuck jesus
Mate.
You came to a vinyl shop blog to complain about vinyl. That's like going into Greggs and shouting about gluten. How did you think this was gonna go?
Calling vinyl “wine tasting vinyl listens” is insane. I have never once sniffed a record and said “ah yes, 1978, with hints of emotional damage.”
Do I sniff records? Well, that's between me and my collection
You’re allowed to like flash drives. We are allowed to like objects that don’t feel like they were designed by AI.
Believe it or not, I do have music on my phone. I do own a cd player. I also listen to music on Spotify and SoundCloud... but I like the *sound* of vinyl.
genuinely—listen to whatever you want. But if you’re coming into a vinyl shop blog expecting us to declare war on physical media… you’re going to have a bad fucking time.
Seriously, come here. I would love to have this debate in person :D ~J
