curious, why did you type stan as an intp? I'd like to hear why
Stan sees a lot of himself in Dipper. A big part of this is their ability to see patterns and possibilities. But Stan uses introverted thinking function first. On the surface level he may not seem like an extroverted intuition kind of guy, but as the show uncovers more of the true Stan you see there is more to Stan than there appears. I think (and maybe it is just me) but Stan screams being an IxTP. An ISTP is more like Wendy as I have typed. She is action oriented and her first concern isn’t what is behind all the scary and weird stuff in Gravity Falls. Not to say an ISTP can’t be nor would they not investigate, we see Wendy do this.Â
But she isn’t doing it in the way Stan is. Stan collects the books and works on his own in a more abstract and theoretical way. This is that Ne function. Now, I get that maybe not everyone saw the TP quality that I did, because his business sense and boss qualities seem more like TJ. And an INTP can seem like that as their dominant function is a judging function, Introverted Thinking. But as the name suggests this is more directed inward. This is used more for inner control than outer control. Stan is much more controlled on the inside as he keeps everything together, but on the outside his work place is pretty chaotic, his research is chaotic, and his taking care of the Pine twins is pretty chaotic.
INTP moments:
Thinking in the abstract.
Non-linear direction of thinking.
More anti-social tendencies and being perfectly comfortable with that.
Okay with moral ambiguity.
