matthew was usually so rational , could manage and handle his emotions in a way that was sensible and made sense in proximity to the situation that was at hand . but . . . nothing about this had practical reasoning in matthew's mind . to mock an entity's stature , the way it spoke , and acted under the prospect that they were NOT real put the brunet into a rather terrifying position . the words that tumbled from his mouth were accompanied by a weak giggle , something nothing short of unconvincing in the way that his brows are knotted together and his lips are pulled into a tight smile .

matthew never wanted to be rude or seem uncomfortable , but given his indirect past with this topic , he knew QUITE a bit ; perhaps , too much . maybe that's why he hadn't tucked his tail between his knees entirely , why he still stood here throat tight with terror and skin burning hot in minute embarrassment , because he knew subconsciously deep down that the being before him wasn't completely malicious . misunderstood ? oh , for sure .

the way it spoke made the brunet's mouth go dry , as if the words reverberated off the expanse of his skull . the look in dark's eyes do no better in easing him , trying desperately to hold SOME decorum and pleasantries rather than scream in fear . matthew smiles , this time attempting for something more sincere as the question settles under his skin , swallowing down the lump in his throat to speak .

Any logical person would know to be careful. Dark was not someone to be messed with. This was a being with 'DANGER' almost written in clear red-and-blue imprints around him. Any logical person would have seen the sharp glare, heard the ominous tone, and backed off - maybe adding an apology for going too far. Why would any logical person feel like they could stand toe-to-toe with a creature with claws and a weapon for a tail?

The simple answer was this: Yancy was not a logical person.

If anything, he was peeved at Dark. He didn't see the warning signs. Rather, he felt he was being confronted by someone oozing authority and lauding over how much better she was than him, just like everyone else. It wasn't something that was delegated to 'human' or 'not-entirely-human'. Apparently, it was a universal trait when it came to interacting with an incarcerated person.

(Plus, the lack of a proper hair brushing really took away from the scariness in Yancy's eyes.)

He took a moment to mockingly look around the cell as though he had only realised for the first time where he was.

you may recognize these icons if you have interacted with my dark!pat muse! but, it wouldnt be fair if i didnt explain who he USED to be. this was oliver (funny enough i named him far before steph and matthew had a kid, hence why his name changed!). he was a part of a AU that i crafted with an old mutual of mine named alex where he was essentially a dimensional hopping alien. they were called 'hoppers' and their interesting trait was that they were visually and borderline historically similar to the people on 'our' earth, the thing that was different was their PERSONALITIES. for this AU, oliver was a personification of matthew's logical trait, every person essentially had ONE key trait from the person they mimicked and it was accentuates it tenfold. oliver was rude, forward, curt, unemotive, and everything he did was purely LOGIC based; cutting out the kind, soft portions of matt's personality. canonically hoppers have bad eyesight which is why all his icons have him in glasses, and i based him initially off of moments on stream where matthew would get so mad at a game that he would become mean to those around him due to rage (obvious his anger was in jest, but im a kooky bastard). ANYWAYS!!! this guy is now james and is my dark!pat muse because there was nothing stripping my brainmade baby from me! thanks for coming to my tedtalk :3

hazel eyes narrowed at the degrading backdrop of his home , watching as the black void seeped through the cracks and enveloped his cozy calm . a ball of anger welled in his chest at the implication , the all-to-knowing presence of red and blue seeming to fill the entire abyss in one drastic sweep . " despite all my rage , i am STILL just a rat in a cage . . . " tired eyes glared down the expansive darkness , brunet hair whipping around to see a figure he suddenly DIDN'T know so well . matthew was accustomed to being swept away by freaky creatures in the night , brisked into nothingness at the prospect of being used for torture ; but , this guy was NOT mare . simple and true , he didn't look the same , didn't feel the same . SOMETHING was off .

google was not tender , google was not kind , it was not compassionate . to humans at least . truthfully , portions of the being before him were the very thing he loathed , and he was well aware of this ; more so , he knew there was more behind mixed hues and muddled pasts . primary function was to answer questions as quickly as possible and the android had created a new secondary objective for itself , aid those that WEREN'T human with whatever they may need . dark was an interesting character , something so reserved and held back , a forest fire contained by a kiddie pool of water . brown optics narrow when the entity lies , head craning with a robotic whirring noise as he looks over the raven's feature , an expression of doubt written wonderfully on faux skin .

“ if that were true you would not have offered your hand . “ cold latex grabs equally cold flesh , finding himself trying to check for a pulse on a walking corpse , a false body . “ i would recommend loosening your clothing so it isn’t sticking to your skin , or practicing taking deep breaths . if . . . n e c e s s a r y , we can discuss your troubles as well . “ sensors read over heartbeat and temperature , physical ailments and some caused by mental ones . “ it is useless checking your temperature for any inconsistencies , but i can tell your heart rate is higher than an average human . maybe you should sit . “

The man standing over the entity was almost like an hallucination, perhaps a blurred vision from eyes that were struggling to regain focus.

But then he spoke, and it was clear that, somehow, there was a part of the past standing, alive and well, in the modern day. He was still well-dressed, with hair neatly tucked back. There was even a cane on the ground that had been dropped in the panic.

This Damien has hazel eyes, however. Maybe that was different... Or maybe that was also true of a man long gone.

Despite the strange feeling he got in the presence of the stranger, Damien had crouched down to make sure everything was okay. He had been debating about phoning an ambulance, but swiftly pocketed the device when the other woke. Eyebrows furrowing, Damien was not aware of the reason for the ominous warning.

"I'm afraid worry is part and parcel of both who I am and what I do in life." There was a short chuckle to try and lighten the mood as he rose to his feet. Truthfully, Damien had only moved because he thought the stranger was okay to stand, but a slow response seemed to suggest otherwise. Without a second thought, he offered a hand to help.

This Wilford was, in fact, quite a far cry from the one that the entity was used to. This was a helpful thing. It meant that it would be easy to recognise who was who at a glance. Rose was not one for pretending to be a person he wasn't. That was just silly - he liked himself too much to hide it.

The glare, however, was familiar. How were all Darks able to give the same "ugh, you're so annoying" look? Was that as natural as the weird red-blue glows? Was it part of the job description? Whatever it was, it wasn't enough to spook him. Instead, he flashed a guilty grin - though anyone would know he wasn't really guilty.

of course, would it be fitting to say you were anything but? you lace your fingers together, and smile widely at the comment. your movements are slight, and careful, although not to be graceful - perhaps uncanny is closer to what you look for. what you seek to be; the feelings you seek to invoke. something that is not quite right. " but of Cooourse!! " you speak, in the voice that does not belong to you. " I wouldn't Want to be anything else! " then, a finger finds itself to your chin. a thought that wiggles its way into your plastic mind, through plastic finger tips.
