I think what I find interesting about people who don't like identity politics don't realize is that shit was always meant to be personal. The thing is though, this country has always cared about identity politics. If you aren't white christian heterosexual married with kids, you are not a person this country is going to "care" about. The reason it has become so "in your face" is that people who don't fit that description have been fighting to have their rights legally protected since colonizers got to the Americas and invented race to claim superiority. You can't hate or want less identity politics when the whole point of the system in the USA is to discriminate against non white christian heterosexual people.
Not to mention the whole point of American Christian culture is that they fundamentally can't mind their own business. They are taught to be in everyone else's business but if they are called out on it, Christians are the victims. It has always been like this. No matter where you live in the country or where you go(public transit, to the store, library, etc) Christian proselytizing is allowed in mass because it is deemed acceptable to be Christian. Let's not forget the Jim Crow era when it was perfectly legal for random white civilians to be in non white people's faces at all times because NOT BEING WHITE IS UNACCEPTABLE. At its core, white christian heterosexuals have not been able to accept that difference exists anywhere(mind you they still burned down black towns even though those people were minding their own damn business). They can't exist in a world where people who aren't like them have their needs meet even if they aren't interacting with them.
Which leads me to mention I've noticed people saying, "White supremacists think they are fighting a race war but it is really a class war." Y'all need to understand that those 2 things are damn near neck in neck most of the time. How can you dismantle white supremacy by having its followers believe we are all working class being oppressed by the rich, when they would rather believe that intersectional equality & accessibility is oppression for them?
