“Some sick irony, isn’t it?” The officer paces around Janus. He’s waving the bloody law book around, a devious grin on his face. “Seems likely that a man with your background would get a kick outta this.”
Janus scoffs, “a criminal background in petty theft isn’t exactly a stepping stone for murder.”
“Until it is.” The cop slams the book onto the table, startling the suspect. “So do you want to tell me why this crime reeks of something you would do?”
“Because you’re a pig who tries to pin any and all crime on someone with a criminal record because you don’t know how to solve a murder?” huffs Janus.
The cops snarls but Janus continues before he could speak. “Thomas is the one that got me out of trouble, what on earth would be my motive for killing him?
The officer falters and Janus nods. “Exactly. Now I suggest you stop wasting time, and interrogate someone who actually has a motive.”
The cops raises his eyebrow. “Like who?”
“Like Logan Alexander.”
“And what would his motive be?”
“Easy. He wants to be the smartest in the room. Thomas was showing him up, Logan got angry, and he killed him in a fit of rage.” Janus shrugs. “He has anger issues, you know.”
The officer pauses, looking over his notes before conceding. “Alright, you’re free to go, Lyre. Bring Mr. Alexander in here.”
Janus stands, taking his time to push in his chair. “With pleasure,” he says, strolling out the door.
ASKS ARE OPEN FOR LOGAN ALEXANDER.
