First of all, the subtitle is wrong, which is sometimes a problem for when you have subtitlers that don’t understand or know the period’s slang. It’s “How might a BODY go about joining up?” which was a not uncommon turn of phrase and one that is fairly archaic but still can be heard from time to time in pockets of rural america.Â
Samson I think you should just take them up on it, even though they are making fun of you. (I think the implication might be that he wouldn’t have been baptized on account of being a little person, but that’s not necessarily true) or fuck, have useless ass Ben do it! He can read! I think. It’s like $26 bucks in today’s money which is, I think, a decent cost of information.Â
