opening my bank account after getting paid
panicked during icebreakers when they asked for my favorite movie and instead of naming one of the many movies i thoroughly enjoy, i named one i have never watched and don't even know the cast for

I got home and wondered why I was in pain. I've been sitting in a cold office with desks that are too low for five consecutive days, of course my feet are frozen, my spine feels crunchy, and the joints in my hands are freaking out over the temperature changes!
I got the goal setting assignment done and submitted today, or at least v1 of it. I haven't properly met my actual supervisor/s yet, just their boss, and very infrequently at that. So I don't know what I will be doing.
I was given some patient files to go through and find pages with missing staff initials, then record those so they can be addressed. At least I'm getting a little task that will be useful in some way now.
There's some pharmacology discussion posting I really should have done already for my other course but I simply don't have the mental energy right now. Perhaps I will review my notes and then do the actual posting on Sunday.

Predictably, I fell off posting. Well, that only took a week! Here's how today went:
(x) review the second protocol my manager may put me on
(x) read the other four binders of material they gave me to look at today
(x) resolve my network access issue
( ) discussion post for my other class
(/) write my little journal to send my manager weekly (program requirement for academic credit)
(x) gym
(x) stardew with friends
Okay that last one was more of an event than a task, but whatever. I've used the slash to indicate task started, the same way I would in a physical bullet journal. By the way, my new notebook is here! I just need to dedicate some time and energy to setup... 😅 Before the end of the night I'll do a little language practice. I've been doing German, Russian, and Hindi most nights - using busuu and duo for German, drops for Russian, and Duo and Memrise for Hindi. Today I think I will switch it up and do some Russian on Busuu.

Trimming the Fat
One of the downsides to being a hard worker is that when I’m asked if I can do something, I immediately want to say yes now, and figure out if it’s possible later. I am one of those people that loves going the extra mile. Whether its agreeing to come to work early to run a catering order or agreeing to do free design work for friends, I always want to help. Through my time in college however, I’ve seen why that is really never the best approach. Perfectionism, a maxed out schedule, and a knack for procrastination do NOT mix well.
For this internship I have been so blessed to be involved with a firm that understands that I am in school and have a lot on my plate. They’ve started me with one client and have spent a lot of time talking to me about the types of things I want to learn and explore in my field. My boss has made an effort to be available for any questions I have as well as arrange meetings for me with a lot of influential people in the company’s sphere and getting me involved in their conversations. These meetings are so exciting to me because instead of it being like school where I leave class overwhelmed and stressed out, I have so far left every meeting feeling refreshed and overjoyed to be working in marketing with UpCode studios. It has also allowed me to feel like part of the company conversation which makes me feel very valued as an intern.
Even with all of this support, I still get stressed out sometimes about all of the projects and groups I’m involved in, but I feel like college has taught me how to say no to those extra assignments or tasks that I KNOW In cannot handle. I’ve seen what happens when I act as a “yes-man,” and now I know that I can control my stress levels in a big way by being careful about how much I take on at a time.
