Daisies Diary: Liz’s Thoughts Thursday!
Lately, I have been thinking a lot about how affected I am by social media. While I love having platforms like Tumblr or YouTube where a community is created and we can all share our thoughts, it isn't always the best thing for me. We all put our best foot forward on social media. We each craft our pages with the most exciting or happy moments of our life and that's what everyone else sees about us. Therefore, it becomes so much easier (sadly) for me to negatively compare myself and my life to these (relatively) false realities of everyone around me. I see how glamorous this person's life is, or how much money that person has and it can make you feel inferior. However, I think it is important to take a step back and realize that nothing is what it seems. I am not the only one who is trying to make sense of my life and still trying to get my stuff together. We all have flaws, we all have bad days despite what we let the world see online. I'm learning to stop comparing my whole life and my journey to these specifically posted glimpses into the lives of other people. The most important thing you can do is make yourself the best you that you want to be without obsessing over what everyone else is doing. Once I've started freeing myself of comparisons to everyone else, life has become a lot lighter. What's been on your mind?
