The Simian by The Toy Buro
"The Simian" is a poseable wooden figure. It's the first toy in a line of low poly animals. By having swappable limbs you can interchange them with ones of other animals to create your very own special creature. As it's highly articulated you can play with different poses. "The Simian" is made out of wood but the idea is to produce it from different materials in the future. Stay tuned, the next animal is on it's way!
The simplicity in function of The Simian combined with its geometric aesthetic creates a toy that functions as both its purpose and a small sculpture in itself. The fact that the limbs are interchangeable lets the user create their own Simian. For a simian toy that does not have lots of fine details, it still has character. The attitude of a simian is translated in the way the Toy Buro duo has used shape and volume: the head of the monkey balances its small legs; its chest proudly sticks out. The way the wood is used, by simply varnishing it and letting the grain show through, adds on to the character design as well.
