MISSION CAMP IS TOMORROW!
Three years ago, I went to this mission camp and my life changed forever. it really did. Because it was during that time where I had quit pharmacy school and tried to find my direction in life. I was lost, broken, hurt, purposeless. And during that week, his spirit poured over me during the retreat and it is a moment that transformed the outlook of my life.
in one moment, God placed a deep burden for new york city on my heart and showed me how much he desired this place. I felt my heart breaking, like it was the most painful heartache I have ever felt. it was beautiful too, somehow. I received God's heart for this city. I cried because I felt how much he was hurting. He said to me "I allowed you to experience all your pain and brokenness freshmen year so that you could relate to the unreached people. I called you to new york city to be a part of the redemption and restoration of this place through the children" wow.
Thinking back...it almost seems surreal. Three years ago, I was in China for the summer. We were staying at my uncle's place in between touring different regions in China. One night I couldn't fall asleep, so I went on my uncle's computer. Suddenly, I remembered about this mission camp my friend told me about that was happening in NYC. Before I left school, a Christian friend gave me the verse, Matthew 6:33 "Seek first the Kingdom of God and all else shall be added" I didn't know waht it meant at the time.
I decided to look up the information for this retreat, and whaddaya know? First thing that pops up on their home page is Matthew 6:33. It was also the first year they were hosting this in NYC instead of Cali, which meant I could go. it was also the last day to register before the price went up.
Three years ago, I went to this mission camp and I don't know what happened there, but it was a God moment. because I left radically different, passionately on fire to serve Him. The biggest takeaway was leaving that retreat, knowing that God had a purpose for me.
