Maia stood in line at Sugar Daddy, waiting to place her order. Wednesdays were fresh donuts day at the bakery and Maia made a point, a long time ago, of making sure she didn’t miss out on donut Wednesday’s. It was easily a highlight of her week. But a lot of people showed up for Donut Wednesdays and on this particular one, the line was pretty long. She had been waiting for at least ten minutes, when she casually glanced behind her to see how long the line had gotten. A smile instantly lit up her face the second she spotted a very familiar face a few spots behind her in line, absorbed with something on his phone.
“Bash!” she called, intending to let him join her in her spot in line. Only to receive a glare from old Mrs. Greene who was in the spot behind her. Apparently the old lady was a mindreader now. “Fine! I’ll go back to his spot! Wouldn’t want to keep you from getting your precious donuts for a second longer.” she said to the old lady, who had the nerve to look offended, before Maia moved to stand beside Bash. “Hey there, stranger!” she greeted with a grin. “You grabbing some donuts too?”
