Slavery to Freedom
From Slavery to Freedom was originally published in Angola by the MPLA (The People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola, then fighting for independence from Portuguese colonialism), translated and reprinted in 1976 by the Bay Area movement press Peoples Press. The new lettering was done by underground comix artist Spain Rodriguez. These comics are painfully direct—intended as a guidebook for anti-colonial struggle—with graphic instructions for various militant tactics, from graffiti to armed ambush.
