Man, he loved her laugh. Melodic, sweet, comforting. And he often took great pride in knowing he was the one to have caused it each time. Always able to brighten his mood no matter what had occurred beforehand. Whether it be over the phone (depending on if he could even get service) or in person. Still, in person was ten times better, him able to see her, hold her. Lack of ability to truly touch still stung a bit, but it still warmed him right up to be in her presence.
Slackening his grip to a more casual hold around her, he hummed a little in response. "What, didn't expect me to drop in?" There was a smirk with a slight tilt of his head. A hand then (admittedly a tad tentative at first) wound up briefly brushing against her cheek, before adding, "hope you ain't runnin' yourself ragged here."
At her questioning, he nodded. "Hit the nail on the head, yep. Galaxy Ranger stuff." An irritated sigh then left, complete with an eye-roll. Yeah, he enjoyed his job. The spontaneity, chaos of it all. But... it kept him from her for way longer than he'd like. As well as he still couldn't go all guns blazing all the time, not with Robin awaiting his return. He'd come back in much worse states before, and honestly? He hated seeing her shocked expression, hearing her worried voice, even with him doing his best to brush it all off. Saying it wasn't that bad, that he'd dealt with much more dire situations. It never worked.
Face then softened at the touch to his cheek, almost instantly leaning into it. "But that can wait a while. I have somethin' way more important that requires my attention here That bein'... you, darlin'." To punctuate his remark, a metal fingertip lightly poked her forehead, a small chuckle following.
