The Granadilla. A granadilla has a crunchy orange outside and sort of looks like a maraca at first glance. The inside is light and fluffy white insulation keeping you at bay from the tastiness that awaits. A frightening prospect at first, this fruit is filled with tiny sacks of goodness surrounding black crunchy seeds. The taste is light and sweet sort of like a pear but lighter. The seeds are there for a nice crunch and break up easily. You can suck out the sacks one by one or just take half of them at once like I do. They are a refreshing snack and are easy to eat because they come with their own bowl! Granadillas are enjoyed all around Colombia and can usually be bought from street vendors.
There are more great tropical fruits coming up! Stay tuned!
