WEEK 6

THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE: The World Cup is here! Capture yourself or somebody else supporting their favourite team while standing as tall as they can. At 6 foot 7 inches (2.01m), Peter Crouch is one of the tallest football players in England. He moved to Ealing as a child and attended school locally at North Ealing Primary, and later Drayton Manor High. 

HOW TO CONTRIBUTE: Hashtag your Instagram photos with #EalingConnections to submit them to the project.

THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE: Capture yourself or somebody else playing the air guitar. Songwriter with the band 'The Who', Pete Townshend is known for his guitar antics on stage.

WEEK 3

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE: Capture yourself or someone else laughing. Sid James was a comedian who lived in Ealing while he filmed at Ealing Studios. 

Art students from Brentside High School in the London Borough of Ealing have been exploring eighteen inspirational people in the National Portrait Gallery’s Collection connected to their neighbourhood. Each Friday over the summer we’ll post a new challenge linked to one of our inspiring Ealing figures. You have until the following Wednesday to respond.

Margot Fonteyn grew up in Ealing, and took her first dance lessons in the borough. By the time she was twenty, she had danced the leads in Giselle, Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty. Many consider her to be one of the greatest dancers of all time.
