- he’s twenty six years old, and he was born and raised in france. his parents didn’t really pay enough attention to him as a kid, but what they did do was essentially refuse to acknowledge he was anything but perfect. as a result of that, he’s been a little shit since basically birth.

- he found out about the experiments when he was sixteen and basically stopped giving a shit all together at that point because one, they would need him for something eventually, so the future didn’t really matter, and two, they wouldn’t let him die, so he was basically invincible. 

- he has a lot of drug and alcohol problems and was going through a lot of withdrawals when he first came to the island probably.

- he’s a fun guy to be around until he doesn’t get his way and then he turns into either an huge asshole, or a whiny baby. or both, if you’re really lucky.

okay first off ... I’m gonna admit that yes I did name her because of the little mermaid oops. aNyway, I was going to write a bio for her but things got so busy so ... you’re going to have to make do with some bullet points for now, sorry!

she’s always been a source of exasperation for her parents because there were some days where it seemed like she was exactly what they wanted in a daughter, their perfect princess, but other days she would run wild and it felt like she was rebelling on purpose.

for most of her young life she did try to please her parents, but there was always that itch inside of her not wanting to be stagnant.

around high school was when she first discovered street racing, and from there she never looked back. she would sneak out at night to try it out, and as time went on and she made more friends she would spend her time after school with them as well.

she still did take the medical course her parents wanted her to, but at that point it was only because she coincidentally had an interest in it as well. she wasn’t the best student, though, as she often traveled to different cities for her races and thus was absent from classes

she spends most of her time with her found family tbh, and only occasionally goes back to her house. she still makes some appearances at galas or dinners or whatever, but her parents are also quite unsure about whether or not they prefer her to attend because she’s quite unpredictable.

as for the experiment as a whole, she’s 50/50 on how she feels about it. while she does like the idea of having abilities and learning to control them, she’s suspicious about the motives of the initiative as a whole. her parents benefiting from all of this does not help, either.

her personality is pretty complicated. part of why I chose the water ability for her was because of the parallels between it and her personality. kind of?? so like water can be v constant in a way, like you know if certain things happen then it will evaporate/boil/move in a certain way etc. so like there are certain things about her that are constant ( especially her loyalty if you earn it! ), and sometimes you know how she’s going to react in certain situations, but then she might turn around and do things differently. a lot depends on the timing and situation, as well as her mood, but you can never quite accurately predict how she’s going to go about things. omg this was kind of confusing I’m so sorry.

she’s also v adaptable, like she can fit in with the rich snobs as well as she can chill with the street kids, and after so long doing underground racing she’s also pretty street smart! she’s able to pick up on smaller details as well, which helps.

she’s quite reckless tbh, and most of the times just goes with it. the thought might occur to her that it may be dangerous, or not the best idea, but most of the time her response is very much a ‘yolo’ kind of thing.

backstory

Born into money. Her parents are both members of upper class society in New York. Her father’s a famous theater producer (Maxwell Sheffield is that you), while her mother’s a famous Broadway actress (probs retired or doing smth else by now, I haven’t decided yet). Both come from classic old money origins and chose to follow career paths in the entertainment industry (classy entertainment like theater okay, they don’t do movie and tv shit).

Does not know what it means to struggle. Grew up with everything she could ever want. Her parents high publicity status meant she was often in the tabloids growing up. Grew accustomed to people watching her and has grown to love it. 

Went on to rule high school like all the great Queen Bee’s and It Girl’s before her. Did Not rule like Blair or Regina, but instead more like Cher and Serena.

Had plans to just live her life as an heiress, but in high school found herself wanting to explore the idea of obtaining a career. Tried acting and passed. Tried producing and decided to give it a shot. Majored in theater production and direction in college.

 You know Heathers: The Musicial? Yeah, that was her shit. She produced that shit and it was the first project that she didn’t share a producer credit with her father. 

Post college, Olivia’s been living her life to the Fullest. That means basically living a life of luxury and glamour, while occasionally looking at scripts to potentially produce. Very selective about what she produces and what she doesn’t, both because she wants her name attached to only things deserving it, and because she’s still lowkey hesitant about her talents about a producer.

When her parents dropped the bomb on her that she was part of an experiment and had to go away to develop her powers, Olivia Refused. Highkey was not here for any of that shit, told her parents as much, and was determined to not go. Her parents, those fucking bastards, deceived her by ensuring her that she didn’t have to go if she didn’t want to, then sending her off to the initiative via their private plane while she was under the impression that she was going to Paris to vacation with them two weeks later. 

Hates this. Does not want to be here. Will ignore anything & everything about her powers. Clinging to gemini like her life depends on it (gets v. annoyed when she suddenly ghosts and then looks around and realizes gemini is ghosting her. probably hunts her down tBH). Just gonna act like this is a fucked up vacation and enjoy the facility’s features that don’t include anything about powers.

personality

self-centered rich girl, more like a valley girl than a queen bee. 

shallow, vain. flair for the dramatics. (all that fucking melodrama)

not cruel, but not above being terrible if it means getting what she wants. 

not intelligent, but smarter than she seems. 

when she wants something, like really wants something, she will get it. 

superiority complex. if you don’t share her social status/class, then you’re below her. does not care to here the problems and concerns of people that are below her.

manicures and shopping and galas and dressing up and dressing other people up and celebrity gossip and gossip are all things she loves. 

probably seems like she has no capacity to work. very much not the case. works very hard and is very hands on when she’s working on a production. mini control freak over it because anything with her name on it must be top quality shit. outside of work though, prefers to sit back and relax and do what she wants, and what she wants usually doesn’t acquire more “work” in the traditional sense.

(though she’ll argue with you and tell you that creating the perfect outfit, perfectly contouring her face, and maintaining her nails are all hard work, excuse you) 

thinks a good make over can fix any problem.

throws money at her problems. 

actually pretty nice tbh, once you look past the shallow and vain exterior. cares a lot about her friends. 

does not know what it is like to be alone and DOES NOT WANT TO KNOW. seriously, relies on her friends more than she even realizes. 

lowkey um very insecure about her own use and ability. fears that she only is successful in theater because of her name, and that she only choose this path because she knew she’d always have her father there to help her if she fucked up. 

lowkey terrified of being in this environment because she has NO IDEA how to navigate it. does not know what it’s like to not have eyes on her, or her entourage around, or even just servants. (the research team she has assigned to her does not count because she wants nothing to do with them and the kind of attention they give her) does not really know what her status is in this place, which is another reason why she is clinging to what she knows and will be treating this place like a vacation & ignoring every power aspect of it for as long as she can.

Wolfie tends to self-sabotage friendships/relationships to push people away on his own terms rather than risk rejection. This unhealthy coping mechanism’s been used since his early childhood, so it’s second nature to him as an adult. BUT WHY DOES HE DO THIS TO HIMSELF?! The answer is 🔥🔥 ANGST ! 🔥🔥

His mother’s guilt over the experimentation consumed her and contributed to a severe case of depression. Wolfie erroneously blamed himself for his mother’s condition and it’s a thought that’s quietly eaten away at him throughout his youth. When he watched his father behave more loving & gentle towards her, he became optimistic it would turn a new leaf for their hardly-a-family family. Then he caught his father with a mistress. AND SINCE THAT DAY, HE JUST ASSUMES EVERYONE IS TWO-FACED & WILL DITCH YOU THE MOMENT YOU NEED SUPPORT. ;A;

BUT he’s now trapped in a home with a bunch of other people that can’t be ghosted no matter how hard he tries ASDFGHJKL; AND THIS BRINGS US TO THE PRESENT!!!

MEME #2: THE PRESENT (TFW u think scotty is a robot hiding something & you’re internally freaking out, but a super calm person asks if you’re okay)

THIS MEME SUMMARIZES WOLFIE BETTER THAN MY APP DID TBH. HE’S SUSPICIOUS AF + WANTS TO KNOW IF THE PROGRAM IS EVEN LEGAL

He’ll be grilling ANYONE who knew details about the program, constantly looking for signs they aren’t the first ones being experimented on, refusing to eat anything that isn’t sealed & inspected by him, and being an uncooperative butthead who definitely starts like 50% of all fistfights in the house.

HE’S IN DENIAL THAT HE’S STRANDED ON AN ISLAND LIKE HE’LL LAY OUT ON THE BEACH WITH SUNGLASSES ON AND SAY IN THE MOST SOLEMN VOICE: “Google Earth will find me.”

But once the initiative brings him his sculpting supplies, it’ll be like putting an IPad in front of a four year-old. He’s a professional dollmaker / sculpture artist with a career that’s put his work in galleries, photographed for magazines, sold to collectors at auctions, and often commissioned!  ( If anyone’s curious, HERE’S a gallery example of what he does and HERE is a cool video about the process! It’s an unusual hobby for someone stuck in their short-tempered, fist-throwing ways...but sculpture is what taught him patience / how to be gentle ! )

After realizing he’s trapped with fifteen other people he won’t be able to avoid or push away, eventually all those backed up emotions will come out! And they WILL come out in the messiest, clumsiest way possible. HOPEFULLY BY THEN HE’LL HAVE MADE FRIENDS IN THE PROGRAM WHO CAN TEACH HIM TO USE HIS WORDS. Arielle is his only friend since forever & with them being each other’s negators...

EXPECT UGLY CRYING IN THE BATHROOM WHEN HIS ONLY FRIEND CAN’T BE AROUND HIM. He’ll come out all puffy eyed and like: someone melted the toilet paper handle + punched a hole in the wall idk who.

The stress will also make him more likely to pick fights & act out, too. Honestly being trapped in a house with other people is his worst nightmare -- even worse than possibly being mutated into Hulk by the government.

BUT ONCE HE TRUSTS YOU, HE’S INCREDIBLY LOYAL! If you don’t like someone in the house, he’ll ignore them + be cold to them with no questions asked. If you trust someone, then he will smile-grimmace & offer a bruised hand to shake because that person’s automatically given an OK for being on good terms with you.

TRIGGER WARNING for DEATH, INJURY, CAR CRASH, ALCOHOLISM AND HOUSE FIRE.

maxine was born and raised in a small, suburban town in portland, oregon, which is completely fictitious bc idk how small towns work in the united states tbh. i imagine the aesthetic to be a little like the fake town from the truman show.

love was mostly absent from her parents’ marriage, who often regretted their decision to live in a small town where perfection was pretty much the only thing in everyone’s minds. the neighbors were always nosy and judgmental, so unless you had the most immaculate nuclear family, you’d most probably be ostracized.

max was closer to her mother than her father, since the former showed more affection than the latter ever did. 

her parents highkey wanted to get out of the small town and hoped to live bigger, better lives where they didn’t have to think about the flaws in their actions. this is the reason why they said yes to the initiative’s experiment, so they basically wanted to use max as a one-way ticket out of that small town.

they were super excited for max to display at least some use of her powers, but when she didn’t, they reverted to their lifeless, "perfect” selves. they had two more children, who were 5 and 6 years younger than max, respectively. the only reason why max’s brothers were born was because the 3:2 ratio of child to parent looked better in pictures.

fast forward to a few years later! maxine’s mother dies in a car crash and little, innocent maxine tries to close the wound on her mother’s chest with her bare hands. she feels her mother’s last heartbeat as she tries to do this, which is pretty much what started her desire to heal.

after the accident, her father becomes an alcoholic. while he was never abusive, he was never truly there either, leaving the well-being of the household to maxine’s care.

max pretty much grew up overnight. she started managing their finances and paying the bills when she was eight with a system that was crude, but ultimately useful.

when she was fourteen, a fire ravaged their home. her father indirectly caused it and ended up taking the brunt of its consequences. he got trapped under a post and suffered a spinal injury which rendered him paralyzed.

maxine’s and her brothers were virtually bankrupt at this point, since they had to spend most of their money on life support for their father. plus, they had no home. however, maxine was unwilling to surrender protection over her brothers, so she worked double shifts, did her schoolmates’ homework for a fee, and then some. 

when the situation of their finances started to look a little better, they moved in to a tiny, cheap apartment right in the middle of the city, partly because maxine wanted to get away from her past.

the next few years were great, especially in comparison to the preceding years. her experiences solidified her intention to become a doctor, so maxine took pharmacy as a pre-med (hoping she could find medicine that would help her father) and eventually she did become a doctor.

she was in her second of residency when the initiative wormed its way back into her life. they told her attending that maxine had been chosen to attend a convention for doctors; who, in turn, told maxine.

maxine was not accustomed to getting a leg up in the competition. she always had to work her ass off to get ahead, since she pretty much didn’t have any connections to give her a boost. so when her attending told her she was chosen, she didn’t hesitate and accepted the offer almost immediately.

plot twist!! there was no convention. it was the initiative’s way of luring maxine to the island with little to no protests. she wouldn’t have come willingly, since she was attached to her mundane life. of course, there’s also the case of her brothers, who would now have to live without their elder sister’s guidance.

so right now, maxine is pretty much an Angery moody babe. she hates being here, there’s no doubt about that. but, more than anything, she doesn’t wanna form any attachments and/or get comfortable because that would mean she’s beginning to adjust to this new life, which is the last thing she wants.

headcanons

maxine is triggered by her own powers. since her touch pretty much entails causing chemical burns, it reminds her of her father’s own injury marked by a burn that covers half his face.

she is an atheist. she used to be a devout catholic, but after her mother’s death, that quickly changed.

she used to let her classmates cheat off her papers/did their homework for them in exchange for money. girl’s gotta earn an extra buck.

she’s never been in a relationship because she literally didn’t have the time. she secretly wants to be in one, she just doesn’t want to admit it.

she keeps a personal record of all her patients, and in her second year of residency (meaning just a few months back), she lost her first patient, the only name she’s ever marked in red.

she’s secretly a writer. she used to make submissions of articles and poems to their school’s newsletter under the pseudonym elbereth gilthoniel. she will never ever ever admit this to anyone, but she may or may not revert back to her writing self during her time on the island. you have full permission to use this against her.

she’s a technophobe. however, her brother saved up just to replace her flip phone from the 90s with a secondhand iPhone 5, which became the only reason why she has a touchscreen phone. she’s also a Black Mirror enthusiast so...go figure.

she hasn’t unpacked anything yet. again, she doesn’t wanna make herself comfortable, so the last thing she intends to do is make this place feel like home.

maxine is a slytherin-gryffindor cusp. her actions are rooted in both selflessness and ambition, one occasionally overshadowing the other.

her mbti is intj and her enneagram is 8w7. she is a rare combination of the two personality types, which can often be characterized by assertiveness, the absence of a filter, and a general reputation for being an asshole. the opposite is shown, however, to those who gain access to their small circle of loved ones.

there was a time when maxine was utterly dependent on coffee. sleep was forfeit to achieve her level of excellence at school, and the only alternative she found was caffeine. that summer, her brothers either hid or threw out every packet of instant coffee from their apartment.

the only reason her siblings were legally allowed to stay with maxine and not with a relative who was of age was through the benefits of the emancipation of minors. it allowed her a degree of independence — legally. 

maxine carries a packet of gum with her at all times, especially prior to taking part in a major operation. she traces this habit back to mother giving her pellets of gum in secret during the first day of school.

at one point in her life that spanned a rather lengthy amount of time, maxine was culturally ignorant. it was only when movie and show torrents proliferated throughout the internet did she truly appreciate the thought and work that went into films and tv series. inflation made slaves of the Osmond household and rendered them unable to see films when they first appeared in theaters, so illegally downloading them provided the siblings with an avenue to enjoy movies in their entirety.
