Day 321 - Innes, Fire Emblem Sacred Stones

I’ve been wanting to write something for Innes for a good while now. He was the first 5* to come home when I had no idea how this game works and I’ve been using him regularly ever since. He was my summon support until I finally got Distant Counter on Camilla (who I’ve had a crush on for the LONGEST TIME). But switching my summoner support felt... weird. I still find myself clicking into his stats page and just staring at him. He still delivers during quests and slays those Reinhardts before breakfast but something is amiss. I can’t quite figure it out, and that’s why I’m writing this. 

With that being said this is not intended as a Summoner/Innes drabble. It’s more like Innes and Summoner formed an alliance over their unrequited feelings but to everyone else they looked like they were in a stable relationship. A couple more points: 

- platonic S support! Innes/Ninian. The two fought together since the very beginning and knew the tiniest habits of each other on battlefields. They might not hang out a lot as friends but if there was a serious issue they would seek each other out immediately 

- This Innes had good intentions but couldn’t understand how emotion works: “I have simply pointed out why your efforts were futile, and shedding your tears will not help with this situation.” 

   “Why are you glaring at me like that? I believe you have work to do.” 

- Innes likes Ephraim more than he could ever make himself admit. He spent a long time trying to find fault with this observation of himself but in the end he had to accept it. He then concluded it’s best not to act on his feelings, not when he saw Ephraim/Eirika/Lyon enjoying the time that they would not otherwise have. 

- The Summoner (Kiran) shared a very similar personality with Innes and they established a very stable dynamic early on. They were very close in every sense but knew full well they didn’t have romantic feelings for each other.

- The Summoner had a crush on Camilla the first time she saw her but decided to hide it because she knew they couldn’t stay in the same world forever.
