This is a horrible bore of an answer but it seems like everything I thought about the Amygdala has already been stated by Rakuyo, that...lore person? Idk who they are but they seem to know what’s going on! I’m sure you’ve read their page if you’ve looked up that sweet amygdala lore. If I could only know what purpose the amygdala serve or don’t serve, headcanons would come more easily to me, but ain’t that just the way. I know that the amygdalae in our brains are responsible for emotional responses to events and memories, and coupled with the Amygdala’s aggression and craze, the first thing I think of is that they are meant to serve? I’m not sure who or what, and this is probably like. “wow livvy everyone thinks that already”, but I just feel like even if they are Great Ones, they’re serving a higher purpose. Perhaps they are the product created by a higher being’s emotional distress, and they serve as guarded “containers” for their grief and trauma and insight, hence the cage-like appearance of their head? Maybe the Lesser Amygdalae you find on buildings serve as guardians of some sort, since they look like they’re watching over everything? Maybe the higher being is constantly like “I WANT THIS EMOTIONAL BITCH EMPTY. A M Y G D A L A”
