The Chevy Volt and Incremental Engagement

You can upload your driving performance of your Chevy Volt. Stats such as EV miles (Electron Volt Mile), total miles and MPGe (electric miles). All great stuff.
The important thing is that this site is a great example of INcremental Engagement. Based on user interaction he gets achievements and can compare his experience to the rest. He can also create a specific group and compare within a smaller circle of Chevy Volt drivers.
All the while the user is engaging more and more with the website and indirectly with the Chevy Volt.
I wonder when Chevy comes on as an official sponsor? Or maybe Nissan?
Get an INgagement strategy or FAIL.
One thing is clear during this information revolution: Engage your audience or fail. We all understand that we need to engage our readers and users. And for the most part it's obvious what tactics we need to introduce to encourage this engagement. Social sharing, a blog, comments, maybe a forum and if we want to get a little more sophisticated maybe a loyalty or content engagement layer. Probably what is a little more grey is how to do this effectively. And can you get by with just a single tactic? You already have social sharing links at the end of each blog post. You're all set, right? Maybe. It's all about content and how that content engages your audience. Now if you can reward users for interacting and sharing that content then that will bump you up an engagement level. Take that another step - consider this level engagement across of your marketing channels and how they INteract with each other. Do they stand alone or are they INtegrated? It's not enough to add a single engagement tactic across a single channel. Those days are over. So what's your INgagement strategy?
