Crime and Treason on the High Seas (@informationtroll )
Of all the illegal activities Akane had been privy to in her short life, this kidnapping was probably one of the strangest. It began when a car pulled up beside the little princess on her way home and a man in a suit rolled down the window. He openly revealed himself to be a member of the Tsunohazu syndicate and then requested that the lady Awakusu please enter the vehicle. Akane's first instinct was to break into a sprint, but when the man mentioned Shiki by name she felt obliged to proceed.
Once she'd taken a seat and strapped herself in, the yakuza agent explained to her, apologetically, that strictly this was not an abduction.
"To put it as simply as I can, Akane-sama, the Awakusu-Kai is under attack." He'd elaborated.
The Awakusu-Kai was well aware of the situation's catalyst and it had already been neutralized. However, the effects had yet to evaporate. It became clear to the little princess that she and her entire family were in mortal danger for the next five to six hours, and at the moment the safest place for her was actually within a different yakuza. As the Tsunohazu group still owed the Awakusu-Kai an apology for meddling in one of its purchases, it had been volunteered for the duty.
"We are dreadfully sorry for the inconvenience, Akane-sama. I swear you will be returned to your family as soon as possible."
Akane herself had no real opinion on the matter. As the car drove further and further from Ikebukuro, she'd been permitted to call Shiki on her cell phone. He'd attested to the Tzunohazu yakuza's claims, and that was enough for her. Still, she couldn't help feeling like an ant in a kitchen. Yakuza, treaties, plots, fallouts, assassinations- these words could only hold so much meaning for a ten-year-old girl. After thirty minutes of aimless driving, she was more irritated that she wouldn't have time to finish her homework.
Finally the black car came to a halt. Akane allowed herself to be shepherded outside and onto a pier. The sea breeze ruffled her uniform and lifted her hair from her shoulders, rubbing a chill against her skin. Upon noticing her discomfort, the Tzunohazu gentleman felt urged to point out:
"We're taking you to the most secure location we have, Akane-sama. At the moment, we are keeping someone there for the Awakusu-Kai, so we apologize again for the inconvenience."
Akane wished he'd stop apologizing and give her something to eat. She'd missed her after school snack. He escorted her onto the deck of a homely-looking yacht. With no other course of action available, Akane simply followed him until he stopped walking.
She was just on the verge of telling him to drop the honorific when he opened the door and ushered her inside.
"Please wait here. I will return shortly."
And then he shut the door in her face.
The little princess sighed, dropping her backpack at her ankles. At least it was comfortable in here. She turned and examined her surroundings. First to catch her eye was the lush bed in the center of the room, adorned with pillows and a delicious comforter. Just looking at it made her sleepy. Besides for that, she spied a desk, an array of potted plants, a heater, and a young man bound with duct tape.
Akane's blood ran cold and she uttered a whimper. What was this? His wrists and ankles were tightly constricted with what appeared to be three yards of silver tape, a decent amount of which had been splayed over his mouth. Honestly, it looked as though he'd been swept into a corner and forgotten. The little princess dared to move closer. She nibbled on her bottom lip and drew her curled fists closer to her body, trembling with fear. Was he even alive? Why would they be so cruel as to lock her in here with a dead body!
But the last shock was still to come. His head rotated slowly on his neck, wobbling as though he wasn't quite sure how to balance it. Akane froze, watching his movements like a field mouse watches a hawk. The man blinked sluggishly and then rested his eyes on hers.
"I- I -Izaya-onii-chan?!"
For a few moments, she simply stood rooted to the spot. What in the world was he doing here? Why was he all tied up? Akane had ten thousand questions to ask-
She scurried to his side, nearly tripping over her numb feet. Fortunately, she remembered to remove his gag before asking him anything, but was somewhat hesitant to actually carry it out...
"Er, I'm sorry, Onii-chan-" She squeaked apologetically before taking a corner of the tape in her fingers and pulling on it. She tried to pull it all off at once, but she failed. Instead it took several sharp tugs to completely tear the duct tape from his mouth.
"Onii-chan, what are you doing here?!" Akane asked after giving him a second to catch his breath.
