Just a lovely Monday holiday kayaking adventure at Tampier Lake. I met several other people with the same inflatable kayak as me. We just had a week in the 80°’s and although I’m not ready for another Sacramento Summer, it got me stoked to whip out our inflatable 2-person kayak again! This was the 🚣🏻‍♀️BEST🚣🏻‍♀️ “panini” purchase, by far! We got the Intex K2 Explorer on Amazon (linked in bio) after seeing rave reviews on it. We don’t have a fancy gear shed or much space in our apt, so the fact that this was inflatable and could fit both of us made it an obvious pick. The seats are adjustable and it has a removable SKEG for directional stability (you can tell the difference when it’s off lol). Max weight is 400 lbs. We can fit dry bags in the front and back along with the pump it comes with. The material is heavy duty and puncture resistant vinyl. 💦 The best part is it’s super easy to inflate and only takes 10-15 mins to set up (even faster if you get a better pump). Can’t wait to paddle around this spring and summer! Some great California spots we’ve already checked out are Lake Berryessa, Jenkinson Lake, and Elkhorn Slough. 𝐒𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐊𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐚 🚣🏻‍♀️ Ok, so technically my # 1 recommendation isn’t exactly in NorCal, but it’s my favorite Cali kayaking spot so far! You CANNOT miss Elkhorn Slough in Moss Landing, along Highway 1! 🦦 🦭 (Pic 2). You kayak with sea otters and harbor seals. Enough said. Now onto my list : ➖ 𝙇𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙏𝙖𝙝𝙤𝙚 : My favorite area here is Sand Harbor Beach. A less crowded spot is Kiva or Baldwin Beach to Emerald Bay. (Pic 3) ➖ 𝙅𝙚𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙇𝙖𝙠𝙚 : A green lake surrounded by forest. Visit the Sly Park Recreation Area with over 9 miles of hiking, biking, and horse trails, along with campgrounds and cookout areas. (Pic 1) ➖ 𝙇𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙖 : Paddle by cliffs (and enjoy their protection from the wind), into hidden coves, under the Rainbow Bridge, and into historical Sutter Street in Folsom for a nice meal. Folsom Lake (nearby) is another good option. ➖ 𝙇𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝘼𝙡𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙧 : People are calling this the “New Lake Tahoe”. Mount Lassen can be seen in the distance while you paddle around, and it offers a ton of campsites and amenities. ➖ 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙧 : Just outside of Yuba City, it offers boat-in campsites and running lights all night long. Paddle under the stars here! ➖ 𝙏𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝘽𝙖𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙍𝙚𝙮𝙚𝙨 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙚 : This tidal body of water is the largest unspoiled coastal embayment on the coast of California! It’s the perfect area for wildlife viewing. 💦 Where are YOUR favorite California kayaking locations?
