SHARK ATTACK! They got me. I'm getting a lot of questions about the StraightOuttaWompton Competition so let's address a few things here right now.
1. How many spots are available? This is not final, but we are thinking about limiting it to 60 or so competitors. This will provide maximum entertainment, competition, and righteousness. Once those spots are filled up, we will not accept any more applications. So if you're thinking about signing up, do it now! Otherwise, wait until next year...if we even do this ever again.
2. When is the competition? Friday the 13th of December. Probably starting around 4pm.
3. Are there age divisions? No. Trust me. Age does not give you any advantage at all on this wave. Experience helps. But I guarantee you nothing else helps.
4. What will the winners receive? I cannot divulge this information. But we are putting something together that make the losers envious.
5. Can people come watch? Absolutely. In fact, there's a restaurant and bar 10 feet from the wave. So come on down, bring your friends, and make a day out of it.
6. How much time will you get on the wave? This depends on whether you win or not. Ha ha. We will release the contest details document shortly. If will have information on judging, criteria, the setup of the competition, etc.
7. What are some tips on riding the wave? Fuck that...I'm going to compete, so I'm not going to tell you any secrets. Good luck.
8. Can we practice? We are working with the wavehouse right now to setup some discounted practice times. We will let you know more about this as it develops.
