Some people think that simply clearing or erasing the light will allow them to pass the emission test because its simply not on when they are taking their car in for the test. This is not a good idea as you will fail for the car’s computer being ‘NOT READY”. Putting a piece of duct tape over the light won’t help either! You will have to have a check engine light scan and diagnose the cause of the light coming on, and fix your issue.
