The exhausted sovereign released a curt sigh as she stared down at the sleeping being before her, sapphire hues glazing over with boredom as she did so. It had already been a few days since she’d found his unconscious self outside the castle entrance, but the strange man still hadn’t awoken from his deep slumber.
It was concerning, to say the least. After all, it wasn’t everyday that an oddly dressed man suddenly appeared on her doorstep (quite literally), and the fact that she had never seen anyone like the man before did not help.
For another few silent moments there, the monarch continued to do nothing but stare at the unconscious man, brow furrowing as she watched his face contort into a number of anguished, pained expressions. It was like he was in a nightmare of some sort — which was surprising, really. This was the first time she had seen him move in such a way.
But the surprise she felt at the prospect of the pale man having a nightmare in the midst of his deep sleep was nothing compared to that of the surprise she felt when she…when she did that.
Honestly, she did not know what had compelled her to perform such an action. Perhaps it was the way he writhed in agony underneath the blanket she had placed over him, or maybe it was the way his long digits grasped and groped at the bed sheets beneath his form, or maybe it was the pain and discomfort that was quite evident on his face (and through his actions) that told her to do such a thing. Either way, though, she had done it.
What had she done?
Oh, she’d leaned over, gulped and slowly placed her lips on his closed eyelids, of course.
With an inhale, the Queen swiftly, yet quietly, pulled herself away from the male, light blush dusting her cheeks as she resumed her staring.
Well, at least he wasn’t thrashing about, now.
