@indignaticn sent: do you believe in love ? ( verse one. )
april’s spent so long watching others imbibe their preferred spirits, she forgot what it’s like to enjoy some of her own ----- okay, a lot of her own. though perhaps she’s most potently drunk on the sensation of being seen, and more dizzying, being understood. in a way, she knows this to be sadly short lived ; what human wants to spend too much time with a ghost trapped the same shabby home ? he’ll grow out of it, grow older, and she’ll go back to being invisible.
the notion pains her beyond measure, but she tries to keep focus in the moment. drew’s here, he’s seemingly enjoying himself, and they’re swapping secrets in the safety of their own world. even if this is doomed, she’ll take a glimpse of pure happiness for now.
“ i, uh, honestly never thought about it much when i was alive. i was young, i partied a lot, it . . . i wasn’t really ready for it, ” april shrugs, recalling her time spent more engaged in physical intimacy rather than emotional.
she pauses, though, turning to sneak a sidelong glance at andrew and savor the warmth that radiates through her chest. “ i think i’m starting to believe in it now, though. ”
