 Comment – According to Michel Foucault, a French Philosopher and Social Theorist, in the previous paragraph, Representation is losing its power to be defined as being common to objects and knowledge. It’s a lot to interpret, with the quote above. When interpreting art and architecture. We use our own experiences to understand what we see in front of us. A mystery is created by our own sense of reality instead of the piece’s own actual history and intention. When looking at architecture, most people may just see the design and think they’re pretty and that is their own way of interpreting it, on a surface level. Others who studied art history, art and architecture in any way may consider the intention of use of space and design. However, this is the outsider’s “representation” and not the true representation of what the original artist intended which may be similar or wildly different.
