We don't think sharks are weird because they look like things that are completely normal, but they evolved... - gills, - intelligent hunting strategies, - social structures, - swim bladders, - eyes, - a sense of smell, - emotions, - child-raising, - pregnancy, - being warm-blooded, - hearing, - curiosity, - tool use, - empathy, - pain, - playing games, - navigating the globe, - small-scale farming techniques, - the use of medicinal practices, - cleaning, - waste management, - resource conservation, - and a complex body language, entirely separately from every other creature that did, i.e. with a common ancestor, that shared these traits. sharks are the prime example of convergent evolution, SO WHY IS NO-ONE TALKING ABOUT IT?
