I wanted to share a few basic tools and techniques to keep yourself from inbox overwhelm. Be sure to share this video if you know someone that can benefit from it. Karma can be a good thing too. The biggest thing that has helped me is monitoring how often I check email. I know some advocate once a day, but I'm not there yet. Switching to 3 "blocks of time" has been so helpful, and I plan on switching to just 2 blocks soon. If I want to check email in the morning, I have to start working significantly earlier than usual, otherwise I have time before lunch, after lunch and just before I finish my workday. For me, the lunchtime flexibility helps in case I have a meeting or one of my classes runs longer than usual. Check out the video for the two ways I stop myself from checking email so often!
