We had a great day moving in and getting some home necessities. Everything went extraordinarily smoothly, our apartment was as good as we hoped and expected, we found everything we needed at the strip mall (who builds an outdoor mall in Texas and thinks it's a good idea??) and we met a couple of friendly neighbors. It does feel kind of culture-shock-y though. Not as "howdy" as some people might say (Forrest) but really different. It's strange how much stronger you notice differences in culture when you're preparing to spend at least the next couple years of your life in that place. It's hard to sleep too. Even though we flew all night and ran around doing stuff all day (it is not easy to get 3-4 bags of stuff from 4 different stores and lug them all through the others since you don't have anywhere to put them until you call a cab at the end of the shopping trip) it feels so strange to be here, and realize that this weird room I'm in, in this unfamiliar neighborhood in this state that is as different from my home state as it could be is going to become my home. We're happy though. It's exciting, we had a good day and it feels good to be doing it together. I can't believe we're here.

And job wise, it's the fastest growing city in America.
