When did sleep stop becoming an option

"My life spins relentlessly, Round and round like a Ferris wheel, Sometimes life’s griefs pile up, It’s too much, And the wheel stops for a moment, My mind teeters back and fourth, Afraid of falling out of the seat, Scared the safety bar across my minds lap will break, And I will plunge into darkness, But the wheel always continues to spin, The seat always steadies itself, And as the wheel continues to spin, The handlebar across my minds lap is always shaky, Always ready to break if the burden gets to be too much, Or if the wheel spins too fast, Somehow even tho it’s so shaky and loose, It hasn’t broken so far, And I think to myself, Maybe since it’s kept itself together, Even through the toughest most confusing and troubling times, Maybe, Just maybe, It will all be okay, And my Ferris wheel will continue to spin, Slowly and steadily.”
