Tame Your Imposter Monster
I am sure everyone at some point, maybe even know, have felt we were not good enough. You might feel that you don’t know what you are doing and consider yourself to be an imposter. That is the the imposter monster rearing it’s ugly head deep in your mind. As women, we have the impression that are not pretty enough, no smart enough, not good enough. We underestimate ourselves and overestimate others. Sometimes, we are our own worst enemies. We are so scared of failing that it prevents us from going after what we deserve. There is a time where we need to say ENOUGH. It is time for women leaders to MAKE it happen. As women in the business industry, or any industry for that matter, we must claim our confidence. It is about understanding where your energy and feelings come from. Do not let your thoughts and actions be driven by fear. Find your motivation and inspiration and make that the push you need to move forward. Having a confident and determined mindset is a must. Remember, you ARE already qualified. Tell yourself that you belong here. There is no luck. Do not underestimate yourself. Give yourself credit. Former First Lady, Michelle Obama once said “your story is the most powerful part of who you are-the struggles, failures, successes, and everything in between, Remember to always stay open to new experiences and never let the doubters get in the way”. Your brand is your story and it is what you make of it. It is not finished and can always be changed. You are worth it, you just have to have confidence to show others that you are as well. You may be told that as a woman you are too emotional to be in a position of power. It is not about being upset or angered too easily, it is about being passionate about what you believe and where you stand. As women, we must not shy away from our passion, but embrace it. You are not an imposter. Believe it and let your skills allow you to succeed.
