#impossible winter

Clara/Bucky moodboard I made ages ago, but completely forgot about. James Buchanan Barnes is a famous author, but his passion for his craft has long faded. It seems like all he does these days is go through the motions, from publicity events to hours locked in his room, struggling to write a single sentence. (He can't remember the last time he's written something he hasn't immediately burned.) Until he meets Clara Oswald at a book store. She's energetic, passionate, fierce, and fascinating, and before he knows it, he's asking her out for coffee. Coffee becomes a day at the beach, and before he knows it, it's nearly three in the morning, and they're lying on the sand, watching the stars. He knows about her hobbies, her hopes and dreams, and the flower shop she runs with her parents. They've talked about almost everything, and nothing at all, and for the first time in ages, he's inspired to write. There's just one problem. She has no idea he's her favorite author. (He wasn't trying to lie to her; "Bucky" is what most of his friends call him, after all. It's only later that he realizes it was a little misleading. He should tell her the truth, but he's seen too many people change when they find out who he is, and as she rambles about soufflès and sci-fi, he can't bring himself to force out the words. Later, he promises himself. I'll tell her later. But the more he puts it off, the harder it is to find the words.
