I kind of agree with your headcanon for their first time. The way it was shot...just no way they had 'proper' sex. But still, the intimacy of the moment and the fact that now they ARE moving on sexually was quite enough for me. :)
Oh my god, it is still totally 'their first time'. Their 'first time' is whatever that want it to be. You draw a line in the sand and that's your own yardstick. And going from not being intimate, not getting off together, not being sexual together, to being all those things is the point. For me, anyway. Because the actual dick-in-ass sex is just something they'd end up sliding into from frotting to handjobs to blowjobs to fingering to sex.
For me the point is going from not-doing to doing.
And that's what happened.
