"... time was once that Bashir knew where to tread, knew how to step, leading and following in the smooth flow of conversation that had Garak nearly, nearly forgetting that this smooth-skinned soft-hearted Federation doctor was no Cardassian.
But Bashir was still thinking. Visibly, too visibly, in such a way that Garak would have thought it suspicious, if Bashir was a liar like Garak, if Bashir was a Cardassian – but of course, if Bashir had only had the sense to be born Cardassian, then many things between them could have been different. (Worse, perhaps, in all the ways that mattered, even if… well. Bashir was not Cardassian, in the end.)"

I walk into the Star Trek fandom like ‘what up, i got an overly cartoony artstyle and a pokemon au’
So, anyway, got bored one day, came upon the idea of a Pokémon/Star Trek AU where it’s kinda like ‘His Dark Materials’ and their daemons, but without all the spiritual stuff. Essentially, almost everyone, universally, has a Pokémon partner, like Ash and his Pikachu, to whom they share a special connection with.
The fact that Pokémon have a very explicit supernatural origin leads me to believe they would be the first thing people had in common with each other when first contact was made; the fact that they share common species across the galaxy is one of the main things that connects people to other species in the galaxy. The different legendary Pokémon created different worlds, and all worlds have Pokémon. I have more, but that’s for worldbuilding posts if people are interested.
I chose Pokémon for everyone (ok, a lot of people) who thematically fit or because I really just wanted to, and with Julian, I chose an Eevee, because they’re cute as hell, and Pokédex entries for them consistently brings up things like ‘Thanks to its unstable genetic makeup, this special Pokémon conceals many different possible evolutions.’ and so I felt it obviously fit.
I have yet to name him, and I thought Kukalaka was a little too obvious, so if anyone has suggestions, feel free.
His Eevee is a spoiled brat, Julian got him right after he learned about being augmented, soon after his fifteenth birthday. He chose an Eevee because he’s dramatic and claims he felt a certain kinship with them.
He takes very good care of his Eevee, and absolutely never feeds it anything that isn’t specifically a vet approved substance, so obviously his Eevee hates this and craves people food. He will beg, he will grovel, just... please give him people food, Julian, it won’t kill him! (This is the equivalent of a dog begging for chocolate)
Garak taught, secretly, within about the first few weeks on the station, Bashir’s Eevee to knock stuff off of tables for attention. Julian has not realized that Garak is the one who taught him to do this. He thinks the stress of moving to a space station made Eevee start to act out.
His Eevee hasn’t evolved into anything despite their deep connection because of a lack of battling, and then during DS9, because there’s no sun or moon on the space station to trigger a transformation into either Espeon or Umbreon.
After the events of ‘Dr. Bashir, I Presume’, when Julian is open and honest about himself for the first time since he got Eevee, Eevee senses the honest affection in the air and finally evolves into a Sylveon.
That’s all the info I have on Bashir’s Eevee and how he’d affect story events. There are many Pokétrek AUs, one where everything happens the same but with Pokémon, and others where some story events change because of the Pokémon.
So, uh, if anyone has any suggestions on what to name the Eevee, or wants to hear more about this AU, hit me up!
More of that Star Trek/Pokemon AU I posted about! For the record, Garak is the entire goddamn reason this took so long; I had a horrible time drawing him, gave up, and kinda forgot about this for three months until I finally figured out how to draw him.

And now, the fun part. Alien Pokémon! Pokémon from other planets can vary just as much as regional variations; they can be different types, but they’re still technically the same Pokémon!, Since I did choose these Pokémon to match the character, I still wanted some essence of the Pokémon’s theme to remain, so yeah! Fun!
Every world has Pokémon on it, although each planet has different species distribution, there are 17 types and 896 individual Pokémon species known to exist currently. Pokémon can massively change over time from their environment, so a Cardassian Sneasel is very different than a Terran Sneasel;
(Cardassian Sneasel (♂) with Terran Sneasel (♂) for scale. Click for the image.)
Cardassian Sneasels have become Dark/Steel, their ice has hardened into steel from the heat (don’t ask, Pokémon can do whatever they want, they don’t have to make sense) and grown in height to almost be the size of a Terran Weavile (Cardassian Weavile are terrifyingly large compared to their Terran counterparts). Cardassian Sneasel’s back legs have atrophied slightly as their front limbs grew even more, and they walk like gorillas.
I chose a Sneasel for Garak because it’s a sneaky little bastard who could very easily be associated both with assassins and sewing.
Garak’s Sneasel is a female named Mila, and while he consistently likes to imply in his usual ‘simple tailor’ way that she is a highly trained assassin Pokémon, what most people wouldn’t know is that she’s anything but that.
Mila comes from a long line of Sneasels who were used by Tolan Garak to garden, and while Mila has certainly been present for many of Garak’s assassin shenanigans, she’s most at home in a garden.
Mila is the second Sneasel Garak has owned, the original was given to Garak as an egg by Tolan not long before he passed away, and that Sneasel was Mila’s mother; Sneasels live around 20-25 years, and Mila is an old lady at around 17.
Mila isn’t a highly trained assassin Pokémon like Garak insinuates, but she is very well behaved, in a way that can make most other Pokémon uncomfortable with how still and quiet she is. I don’t exactly know how Mila lost her eye, and Garak insinuates a new story each time, but that’s just how it is.
She isn’t particularly fond of battling, being more of a fan of gardening, but just like her owner, she’s a little bit of a mischief maker, and enjoys frightening other Pokémon for fun, especially Bashir’s Eevee. Even after he evolves into a Sylveon, she still enjoys bullying him, and it’s a source of contention between Garak and Bashir that Mila is kind of a little bastard, just like her owner.
Garak does use her as a tailor’s assistant, but she’s more of an old lady cat than anything else, lounging around when she’s not standing around looking ominous to accentuate Garak’s whole.... look.
God, I love drawing things. If anyone wants to suggest who I should draw next, or want to know more about the AU, just ask! (be aware I already have Pokémon for everyone besides the Star Trek Enterprise characters and will not be changing them)
I'm here waiting for someone to write the ff on how Garak singlehandedly took down Section 31 because Julian wasn't on the station for a whole month and he was bored out of his own mind. And he would be narrating every single detail to Odo, while mending one of Molly's dresses.
The best part Odo, is that I didn't have had to leave the station!
And obviously Odo won't believe him until Sloan Luthor is going to arrive in the station searching for answers he will never get.
