Luciano opens the package on his lap, handling the gift and the note with latex gloves snatched from his nightstand drawer–no use contaminating nice things.
“How thoughtful…” He smiles fondly at the words, setting the bottle on the stand and tucking the note away. “Such a pity he won’t…” Sniff. “…come in for a session…”

[voicemail] Hey, Andres! This is Cecil. Palmer. Uh, I was just calling to see if you wanted to maybe go on that date sometime soon? Not to pressure you or anything! So he was pretty much crap at answering any of his phones on time (you never know when a plant related disaster might befall or a plant might spit pollen in your face that makes you sleep for two days), Andres would admit that, but when he heard Cecil's voice over the answering machine, the botanist bolted towards the phone and scrambled to answer it in time.
As soon as he reached the phone, however, Cecil hung up, forcing Andres to call back. When Cecil picked up the phone, he immediately began speaking.
"Cecil, heyyy! Sorry about that, I haven't, uh, been quite awake to answer any calls. But, yeah! I'd love to go on a date! I'm free when you are!"
