My First Therapy Session
Mom of two kids, two dogs, and a cat. Sounds simple enough right? Except my son, my beautiful baby boy with the infectious laugh and dimples, is evil.Â
That’s right! He’s evil. To tell this properly though, I need to back up to when my daughter was young.Â
I had my daughter at 17, I was terrified, but she was the perfect kid. At a month old she slept through the night. At nine months she was speaking full sentences so there was no guess work about what she wanted. She was fully potty trained by two and a half! When she was quiet, I didn’t worry that she was into trouble, because chances are she put herself down for a nap! She was everything I could have hoped for and made life as a young mom very easy.Â
So easy, that I was actually excited at the thought of a second kid! In April 2017 we welcomed our son, John. I was in for the biggest learning curve of my life.Â
There was no sleeping through the night! Even after one or two lucky nights of 6 straight hours of sleep, that meant no daytime nap. He went quiet? You better find him, NOW! It’s still a little early for potty training but he currently screams at the thought of sitting on the potty with no pants on.Â

Hungry? Screams. Tired? Screams. Not allowed to play in the kitty litter? Screams!Â
Yet here I am, at work, looking over his photos on Facebook and counting down the minutes until I can be home with him cuddled on my lap as we both fall asleep watching Paw Patrol. So now it’s hit me, I don’t hate my kid, I hate parenting! At least what I thought parenting was.Â
I want to be the parent that does nightly bath time, that helps with homework, that doesn’t watch too much TV, that prepares only healthy organic food, that makes sure everyone’s teeth are brushed before bed. On top of working 40hrs a week, working out four times a week, is perfectly groomed, that reads...but that’s simply not me.Â
After a  little research I was happy to learnI’m not alone either! If you’re like me this article has the best 10 reasons why parents hate parenting: https://www.smartparents.sg/parenting/relationships/10-reasons-why-parents-hate-parenting-10054894
Trying to be the perfect parent drove me to insanity! So if you’re reading this hoping for parenting tips, you better find another blog. This blog is simply the retelling of the crazy stories this crazy kid (and the rest of this crazy family) has to share.Â
