Oh. I feel like Raven would be kind of a combination of fire and Earth. Like either lavabender or just firebender, thought metalbender would be amazing taking into consideration her being a mechanic. Omg I don't know. Hard. Bellamy definitely Earth, right?

i was thinking about this more in the shower yesterday.... hashtag shower thoughts... prepare for word vomit below.

what i ended up thinking of, is setting the show in the ATLA canon, having the fic start either entirely prior to aang waking up in the ice or maybe having those events happen in the background, idk. 

when thinking about the characters in the 100 and how to fit it into atla, it struck me that having them live in fire nation occupied earth kingdom could be a setting that really works.  it gives reasons for the anger, class differences, oppression... i haven’t ironed out everything about it yet, but i figured it would be a smallish town (im reminded of the haru storyline in atla where he hides his earthbending bc the fire nation takes them away?). bc i was thinking of how higher class families like the griffins could be complying with the fire nation (dunno who this would be, mount weather crew...? idk i was toying with like the arc upper class being the fire nation occupiers but idk if i wanna go that far? it’s weird bc in the 100 the sky people are all occupiers of the grounders land but... i think this fits best). 

as for bending... using how bellamy and octavia don’t know who their fathers are, i was thinking of how if octavia’s had been an occupying soldier, and was born a firebender, how hiding that could replicate that sense of octavias existence being illegal.  

i also think that earthbending fits bellamy, and i would want him to be a bender, i think... (a part of me is also toying with the idea that he would be a non-bender, but i cant decide.) to fit with the setting, i would have raven be an earthbender, who could metal bend... i think that there’s something compelling about how raven’s bending would be affected by her injury coming from the 100 canon. following what was given in atla canon, i would think the benders would all be hiding their abilities.
