This is insane. Already I've been called a criminal. I received an email a few minutes ago stating that I was a criminal and that my blog should be taken down.
Firstly, my blog contains no illegal posts. It's perfectly legal to troll a friend, thanks.
Secondly, I haven't done anything illegal (that you can prove). The only hackers you catch are the stupid ones. For example, a trio of script kiddies decided to try to DDoS 4chan recently. All three were using a home connection, and two had no masking protocols whatsoever. There's a very distinct line between negligent and completely retarded. My point is that if you catch a hacker, it's likely a small-time script kiddie using LOIC without any masks or proxies. Only the smart hacker leaves no trace.
While I won't be publicly admitting to committing crimes, thank you, I will say that I can easily find where you live and what your IP address is. Just saying that it's pretty stupid to insult a hacker over the Internet.
I've removed my email, and my IP is masked anyways. Please do not attempt to contact me using any other means than Tumblr. Thanks.
"A hacker is someone who loves to program or who enjoys playful cleverness, or a combination of the two. The act of engaging in activities (such as programming or other media) in a spirit of playfulness and exploration is termed hacking. However the defining characteristic of a hacker is not the activities performed themselves (e.g. programming), but the manner in which it is done: Hacking entails some form of excellence, for example exploring the limits of what is possible, thereby doing something exciting and meaningful. Activities of playful cleverness can be said to have "hack value" and are termed hacks(examples include pranks at MIT intended to demonstrate technical aptitude and cleverness).
Richard Stallman explains about hackers who program:
What they had in common was mainly love of excellence and programming. They wanted to make their programs that they used be as good as they could. They also wanted to make them do neat things. They wanted to be able to do something in a more exciting way than anyone believed possible and show "Look how wonderful this is. I bet you didn't believe this could be done."
Hackers from this subculture tend to emphatically differentiate themselves from what they pejoratively call "crackers"; those who are generally referred to by media and members of the general public using the term "hacker", and whose primary focus β be it to malign or benevolent purposes β lies in exploiting weaknesses in computer security."Β -Wikipedia
While I do gain access to computer systems for a living (mainly my own), I am not some thirteen-year-old script kiddie who can't use anything better than LOIC. Please do not treat me as deadbeat scum, because it took me years to understand what I'm trying to impart to you.
