Alright, Image comics continuity tmnt comics really had Casey outright say that he cares waaay more about Shadow and Gabby than April and their relationship. (This is also implied to be true in the Mirage comics, like he loves April but give him a choice between April and Gabby? He's picking Gabby.)

And at least in the Image universe version? Image April ain't shit given she out here going 'what about me?' and 'you're over reacting' to Casey freaking the fuck out when his toddler is fucking missing and then later revealed to have been kidnapped and *sold*!
[also hey, remember how Mirage and directly Mirage derived Casey Joneses has a cognitive disability that one of the side effects is him having difficulty regulating his emotions on a good day?]
