And Genji knows it too. Actually it’s the first thing he thinks off when he wakes up. And despite how often he is being told that he should despits his brother for what he has done, he cannot help the feeling of pity that tugs at his heart every-time his brother’s name is mentioned, to think of how alone he was back then, only having Genji as company, and how truly alone he must be now.
It’s a thought he cannot get off his head, that becomes such a burden he can almost feel the guilt dribbles out of his mouth. His brother needed him more than he had ever thought, and he wished it hadn’t take a murder for him to realize it. He forgives him, forgives the choices he was unable to make for himself and the actions he was forced to take. It comes so easily it almost feels like a mistake, but he knows it isn’t just by looking in his brothers eyes.
The acceptance for Hanzo is a long and tedious path. And really the simple thought of his brother feeling any pity for him would put him in a fury. But I want Genji to cover him with the kindness and compassion he was surrounded with when himself could no more. I want Genji to cradle him in his arms and constantly reassure him, until Hanzo is fast asleep, exhausted by the tears he could finally shed.
