i like tf2swap because it lets you explore new facets of the mercenaries, but since this account has been mainly snsc so far, i'll talk ONLY about them for now.
if u don't know: scout → medic, he's called surgeon; sniper → scout, he's called hunter.
where do i even begin tho... this could be a whole series - i just love them so much,,,
whatever. i've never seen the mercenaries as "average", so surgeon is definitely some kind of prodigy; finishing med school at 23. normally you'd finish general medicine and then specialize, but that's not surgeon's case—he was hired before he was even legally allowed to perform surgeries. cheaper labor, y'know. the cheaper, the better.
he's dyslexic and has adhd, so he always had to study twice as hard as his peers. that meant less time to socialize, which explains why he's so reserved. probably means he barely experimented—not just sexually or romantically, but with "adventure" in general.
not only that, he's probably super self-conscious about his worth in the medical field. he has real talent for healing, diagnosing, etc., but he had a rough time with all the medical terminology, so he can sound kinda robotic when he says them. they're already hell on earth for most people, but to him? sometimes it's like a tongue-twister.
he's very passionate about it though—he persists in studying even during the gravel wars. however, he's not as experimental as medic. he invents the uber and even manages to make a baseball that cures instead of causing concussions, lmao, but he hasn't felt the need to go full mad-scientist like with the baboon uterus... though he might have similar wild ideas bubbling under the surface. not explaining that yet.
ANYWAYS!! unlike scout, he is not experienced (i've already said it)—but you know who is? hunter! i feel like he crushes on surgeon the moment he lays eyes on him. ngl, he's a twink in an amazing medical uniform. hunter just wants him.
but surgeon knows absolutely nothing about that. he just picks up that hunter likes him because of the obvious "symptoms": blushing, heart beating fast, all that. how could he not tho? hunter actually seeks him out and stays during his long rambles, brings coffee, pays attention, sometimes brings up stuff surgeon said weeks ago—even though he doesn't understand half of it.
surgeon is super annoying about taking care of him. he keeps trying to push hunter into taking better care of himself—like not running straight into sentries, goodness. not because hunter can't handle himself, but because each time surgeon has a literal heart attack. not because he's afraid of death (respawn does its thing), but because he obviously hates seeing hunter hurt.
"bright side, the uber charges!" hunter says, a bit flirty. "i'm going to kill you myself," surgeon replies as he treats him.
y'all are probably DONE that i always talk about sex, but i think it's one of the most intimate moments you can have with someone, ok?
now... i said surgeon is a hot twink... but... DON'T EVEN THINK... i'd make him a bottom....... . .. . . .. .. . . . .. ............

but now being serious, i feel like their first times are like "my hair" by ariana grande, do you get me? first, they try with surgeon bottoming—it was the safest bet, especially because surgeon is absolutely terrified of being bad at it. but hunter is positive he can learn, and he's so keen on helping :)
nonetheless, they quickly realize uh... they're better trying the other way around.
continuing with the "my hair" comment: hunter is actively giving him instructions and praising him, telling him how to touch, how to move. he's just so gentle. surgeon tries so hard to be better, but he's still embarrassed at first. it's alright tho—hunter loves the way his cheeks flush and knows he'll miss it once surgeon gets more confident. on the other hand, when hunter takes the lead, he goes slow too, trying to figure out exactly what satisfies surgeon best.
(surgeon likes edging when hunter rides him 🤤 and hunter loves to see him restrain his whimpers)
this also happened when they started kissing, lmao. hunter is all in for tongue kisses but surgeon just... doesn't know how. i can see them having a literal class where hunter explains it with drawings. they're just two idiots in love, the difference is one has a degree so he doesn't look quite as stupid...
and that's all this snsc brainrot has got me thinking so far. maybe tomorrow there'll be more... who knows, life's a carousel.
