We've all said/done something we're not proud of when we were younger. I used to laugh at homophobic slurs so it would seem like they didn't hurt me. I even believed they didn't. I enabled a problem. We all learn. Name one well-adjusted teenager.
I realize that, and I realize there's very little chance he meant anything offensive by it at all. It's unfortunately common slang, and a lot of people use it without thinking. It still doesn't make it easy to hear, and it still felt shitty that my brother - who was already having a miserable day and has had to hear that kind of crap enough in his life - walked over to check out the video just in time to hear that. Dylan's talent is just about the only positive thing he's had to say about TW (as a person who doesn't actually watch it), the only TW related thing I've ever really been able to talk about with him, and he was a fan from the Maze Runner movie. And I could just literally see these sad, accepting shutters come down over his eyes before he walked away... and I hate that look, my baby brother feeling like he's just always going to be a punch line when he least expects it. So no, I'm not mad at Dylan guys, I adore Dylan, and it's something he said when he was 16 and I'm not holding it against him now. It was just an unpleasant experience.
