A Promo poster for my next animated film 'Rock Paper Scissors', hopefully on its way in the near future.
This is what I have spent the last few days working on for the front page of my in-construction portfolio. Drawn on A2 snow white card and made up entirely out of characters of mine, some from recent animations, some from stuff like Manga-Gaga, and some from my childhood.
THE INK UNIT
Black and white sound cartoons are badass, so here's my tribute to most of the ink-blob style characters from that era.

Felix the Cat (1919, Otto Messmer.)
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (1927, Walt Disney's character until he lost the rights to Universal, which they only last year got back. This drawing of him is based on the Walter Lantz era Oswald.)
Mickey Mouse (1928, Walt Disney + Ub Iwerks.)
Flip the Frog (1930, Ub Iwerks.)
Bosko the Talk-Ink Kid (1928, Warner Brothers first cartoon character.)
Foxy (1931, Warner Brothers. Almost too Mickey Mouse like in appearance.)
Bimbo (1930, Max Fleischer. Ended up becoming Betty Boop's sidekick.)
Don Dog (1930, Van Beuren. Only in three films before he was transformed into a human character called Jerry.)
Copyrights go to those who own 'em (which in the case of some of these characters is a bit of a muddle).
In case I didn't mention it already, Lucy Lolly is going into production in the near future, and will be ready in time for June 2008, when it's due in at Uni for my final major project. Here's some collage concept art I did recently using wallpaper samples and magazine cut outs.
This is how I want the final film to look like, at least for when the film is all 'cute'. I already know how I want it to play out and how I will do it, I just need to get a final storyboard and soundtrack ready, then I'll most likely start animating as soon as December or January. Woot!

This *might* be my final major project for Uni, but I haven't decided between this or making a new version of Tea N Crumpets yet. I started doodling this character about a year ago and on the way to California last Christmas in a plane I doodled out an entire rough storyboard for a possible short film.
The story is all about a little girl called Lucy and the joy she gets from toying around and eating her lolly pop stick. However, the lollipop itself doesn't see her as a sweet little girl but as a MONSTER who tortures and eventually chomps him into little pieces. The pieces of the lolly hatch a plan to escape from the acid in her stomach, back up and out of her mouth again, smashing her teeth out in the process. I’ll post more concept art later.
The Wii launched in America on this day ten years ago! It didn’t show up in the UK until early December and this artwork above is from when I finally managed to get my hands on one in February 2007 after month of them being out of stock everywhere. I got mine with Wii Sports, Wii Play and the extra Wii remote, and also had a copy of Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz which Sega sent me around launch time for doing a phone survey!
Still love this system: have around 50 games for it and have it hacked to play imports, emulators etc as well so it still gets used quite a bit despite also owning a Wii U. So many quirky and unique games on it!
The ‘puzzle me’ on my shirt here is because I sent this to friend on the Wii’s photo channel where you could make puzzle games out of any jpeg. I miss all those silly little channels they had on there.
I actually did something today that didn't involve um...doing nothing! I got around to colouring up this artwork I did about two weeks ago. Not enough creative juices flowing for it to be my own characters of course, but instead it's characters from the old Sega Saturn game Athlete Kings, AKA Decathlete. This is the only fully coloured art I've done in THREE MONTHS. I will be going back to Uni in 2 weeks so this long, long break of playing lots of video games (and spending quite a bit of money on them) is coming to an end!
