#ilc update

oof okay so these weekly updates haven't really been weekly but I'm back in the full swing of things! And I have decided on a semi-official release schedule for august! If nothing explodes/changes *knocks on wood*, I'm planning on releasing The Video at end of August! 🥳🥳🥳August 30th to be exact! (at the very latest by the first week of September gah).

I have been pretty busy but I think I just need a deadline to kick my butt in gear to actually get it done. (Also bc I already have another real big project idea and I need to get this done before I can get properly started on that one LOL)

Also for August! The clips videos will be coming out every Sunday/Monday, and if all goes to plan, part 9 will be a lil surprise upload in the middle of the week with a lil teaser for compilation video (little spoiler for those of you that actually read these hehe)

Thank you for everyone's patience! I'm really trying my hardest to make something I can be proud of.

Wk 18-21 update

uh Hi! I'm alive lol

Life got crazy the first weeks of June and I spent the rest of June catching up and finishing other things I had been putting off while working on this project. So I uh didn't get much work done. BUT in classic Markiplier fashion I'm BACK. For good. Hopefully. (might be moving in the next month so that would interrupt things again but might not so we'll seeeee)

Still committed to getting this done in spite of the imposter syndrome that has started to creep in but I'm confident in my ability to stitch clips together and that's like 90% of the whole thing. I'm doing this for fun and not for a grade and the important thing is that I'm learning things (is what I keep telling myself until I internalize it)

I really want this to exist if only for myself and I've gotten such lovely responses from everyone I've reached out to and I don't want to let you down so imposter syndrome be damned.

Wk 17 update

The edit is progressing! Slowly! but its going! I split it up into yearly quarters to make it easier to work through and I'm very quickly realizing that the "everything" video is going to be... very long. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I for one love a good 6+hr video. But my poor computer and uploading internet might not. (for context, the screenshot above is of the different Davinci Resolve quarterly timelines and their duration. They're only have rough cuts of the videos so it'll go down a bit but uh that's a lot. The main video won't be that long though! I'm only picking the best bits for that one.) And I don't hate editing yet! I'm learning that I actually really like it! I've only done simple things so far but I'm really enjoying it :D

Also, hello to the new followers! Thank you for choosing to watch the mildly controlled chaos unfold lol. I'm a little self conscious now that I have a bunch of artists following me since I have a few digital art ideas for the thumbnails/branding/etc and I am not really ... uh .... lets say well practiced or trained. But they're all going to be 100% authentically human :D. and endearing. hopefully. (I'll introduce the like "channel mascot" idea I have later lol)

I don't really have a timeline for when the main video will be done but I have a soft deadline for myself that I don't dare to make public for fear that everything goes wrong and I can't make it ;-;. But for sure before the end of summer. I think.

Oh! and the part one of the clips videos went out! Those I could maybe do weekly on top of the rest of the editing? but we'll see. Not really committing to anything for those, they are just for when I want a break/have extra time.

Wk 16 update

Editing is happening! I'm making progress that's for sure. Got a lot done over the weekend and now I'm in the thick of it. But for real its been so fun getting to just dive into a project (even if its one as insane and unwieldy for a first real video edit lol) as this one to really like figure out what keyboard shortcuts I really like and what tips and tricks actually work. I've been watching so many tutorials but actually putting them to use on something has been so cool.

Lots of learning happening for sure. Really proud of how organized I've managed to be even if a lot of it was figured out on the fly. The file names and bin structure and even metadata is just working and very helpful and I'm able to really speed thru videos since I already took decent notes on what to keep an eye on.

Still gonna take forever since its a stupid amount of videos/hours of mark blabbing on and on. But its efficient! kinda. at least as much as I can make it right now.

I have been trying to get started on this edit for the past WEEK and either life things or more prep things keep getting in the way. Just now was like oh I should test my downloading option and it didn't work so now gotta get that figured out ugh. I theoretically know computer things but also its scaryyyyyy. (edit: figured it out! not that scary after all! yt-dlp my beloved)

On the plus side, I think I'm finally done with the research! So the editing shouldn't take nearly as long right? right?

I think I'm gonna start making weekly updates on the work I've done so far! if anything just to keep myself accountable lol.

I suppose I should start out with a bit more of an explanation of what I'm trying to do. The original idea was trying to make a compilation of every time mark mentioned working on Iron Lung before it came out. Which is uh a much bigger task than I originally thought it would be. My only saving grace is that his upload schedule has been abysmal for the past 3 years lol.

It's evolved a bit from that but that's the core idea. Its shifted now to two main videos, one where I include just about everything I've found but the main one and the one that I'm planning on releasing first is a more edited and concise version (plus a few other bonus videos but we'll see if I get to actually get to them). So it won't have like every little reference but be more of a summary of the journey collected from what mark talked about it. I also want to include some fanart and reviews in it to include the community reaction/involvement as well! (Once I get closer to that part in the edit, I'll reach out to some of the lovely people with sick art I've found and see if/how they want to be included so if I reblogged your art and you're reading this now, uh heads up lol)

For context, I've been working on this since uh February?? I think? basically right after the movie came out. But I only just now got around to making a blog to document and share the process. I'm finally done with the research portion and I think I'm finally going to start on the edit soon so yay. I feel like I should also preface that I have a lil practice editing but this is going to be the largest project I've ever attempted so its going to be a bigggg learning experience.

I think I'm going to also make some retroactive posts of funny things I found in the research process with the approximate time frame I found them in. Like a really out of order journal of the process lol.
