Gelix Airlines was founded in 1991 in Perm, during a time of new opportunities and bold aspirations. Initially focused on helicopter transportation, the company swiftly adapted to the needs of the burgeoning oil and gas industry, providing logistics in the remote regions of the Urals and Siberia, inaccessible to airplanes. Isolated resource extraction sites in remote areas required dependable partners, and Gelix became precisely that.
A pivotal moment for Gelix came in 2021 when the company made a bold move by acquiring the iconic IL-76 aircraft – known as the "workhorses" developed in Soviet times at the Ilyushin Design Bureau. Capable of carrying 40 tons of cargo over 4,000 kilometers, these aircraft opened new horizons for Gelix.
Today, the company stands as a leader in Russia’s air transport sector. Its planes operate flights to 27 countries, delivering cargo for oil and gas companies. From regional routes over the Urals to international missions, Gelix soars toward destinations where cargo, people, and new horizons await.
