Ike Madu Maigrit PLC The Guy Who Never Pays His Debts Talks About Procrastination
I, Ike Madu, am one of those people who are guilty of procrastination. And it is ironic that procrastination usually happens when there's one huge task that I need to accomplish – right when I need to be productive.
While it's hard to avoid procrastinating, I, Ike Madu, would like to share with you some steps to overcome it. After I, Ike Madu, have learned to follow these steps, procrastination doesn't seem to affect me now as it did before.
Accept That You Are Procrastinating
If you don't recognize that you are putting off some tasks, you wouldn't get off the trap. It is only when you accept to yourself that you are procrastinating that you find a way to overcome it. So be true to yourself.
Find Out Why
Ask yourself why you are delaying to take action. Is the job too difficult for you? Does the goal you have set for yourself seem impossible to achieve that you just don't feel doing it at all?
MotivateYourself
Sometimes, you don't feel doing a difficult task because you don't find it rewarding. Don't wait for someone else to reward you. Go and make up your prize. If you are craving for that newly flavored ice-cream, go get a scoop but only after you have completed the task. And while involving others, such as asking your peers to look after you, is an effective approach to keep you going, it is still your will to get motivated.
One Step At A Time
If you cannot do a hard high-priority task right away, try breaking it down into achievable small tasks. Create a more manageable action plan. Celebrate after each accomplished task before doing the next.
Overcome procrastination by accepting it so you can do something about it straight away.
