Painting on old photos, I create a new reality from the past. In 2008, I created a body of work titled Knowledge Comes from Gas Release in Barcelona, Spain. The title came from my mishearing lyrics from my favorite BOWIE song, and my acceptance of the absurdity of it all. #knowledge #quicksand #garybaseman #baseman #iguapop #barcelona #spain I challenged myself to understand the aesthetic nature of my subject with a sense of abstraction.
