Alex couldnāt help but tilt his head a bit when he heard Clive mention ānot wanting to invade your personal spaceā. That was a thing? Heād grown up attached at the hip to his siblings, his twin in particular. Things like āpersonal spaceā hadnāt existed for him, nor ever crossed his mind. Now he was starting to wonder if he was constantly invading others' personal space. He'd have to go ask a few people later. Whoops!
āI donāt mind, really. Especially if itāll help you fall asleep. My siblings and I used to share the same beds when we were kids, so Iām used to it.ā His older sister had been the one to tell him that āsometimes, just listening to someoneās heartbeat can help ease their mind enough to relax.ā Heād taken those words to heart and offered his heartbeat to anyone who seemed toĀ need it.Ā
Kids. Grown adults. Some of the other Cursebreakers. It didnāt matter to him, so long as he could help ease their worries; even if only for a second. āI wonāt force you. You are your own person, after all. But itās an option on the table, at least.ā A few moments of silence passed before he spoke again. āBesides⦠everyone deserves comfort. Even you, Clive.ā Whether Clive would believe him or not didnāt matter. It was simply something Alex believed in wholly.Ā Besides, he was sure the man could use some encouraging words. He'd been through so much already.
āBut, if youāre really truly against the idea, I can go see if Tarja has something thatāll help you fall asleep. Pretty sure I remember her mentioning something earlierā¦ā Even if he hadn't passed out on the docks, it was pretty easy to tell he was wearing himself ragged and needed to sleep. Especially if he was tossing and turning like this every night.
"Anything else you might need? I can grab it while I'm out. Shouldn't be gone too long..." Maybe he would run by the Tub & Crown real quick. Normally a warm drink would help ease his nerves and exhaustion, letting him fall asleep quickly. Might as well try it with Clive. The worst it could do is nothing, after all.
